I have a 1963 Fury with the 361 and power steering.

I had a leak fixed a while back and ever since then, the cars steering wheel turns to the right all by itself at idle.

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

What could the problem be?

Thanks

Sounds like the control valve on the steering box either needs adjusting or cleaned and replaced. What I would do is jack up the front of the car enough to get the front wheels off the ground. Then just loosen the control valve bolts a tad on the P/S box. With a small hammer tap the valve one way or the other and try to move it a small amount at a time until the wheels stay in the center and dont move on there own. Usually when this happens the control valve is off the center and it acts like you are turning the wheel as thats what happens when you do turn the steering as when you turn the wheel a tad it works against the control valve on the P/S gear and puts fluid pressure against the piston in the steering gear to assist in turning. What you are doing is just moving the valve a tiny bit at a time to get it centered so it wont put any pressure to the gear piston and move the wheels. What you want is to have the front wheels centered and off the ground and then with the eng running the wheels should stay centered and not try to move. Hopefully you can tap and move the control valve that bolts on the P/S gear a bit until the wheels stop moving on their own. Ron

Thank you I will have the mechanic try that. I appreciate the help. I have never seen a car turn corners by themselves before.

Yes SHE is possessed. Being that she is Christine's little sister and all.

When I was 16 or 17 there was a girl I liked. Every time she got into the car something happened and we had to walk back.

I called her a couple of years ago and asked if she remembers the car. It has been about 25 years now. She does remember the car and called her Christine.

I don't think this problem is because she is possessed. Other things yes, but this no.
