My questions are, what makes it rare? Because of who owned it? Because it has no serial number? Didn't warranty blocks come with no serial number? I mean geez, you can buy TWO BRAND NEW Hemi crate motors for that price. Maybe three if you shop around good.

It is my understanding that they did not serial number the hemis untill 1968 prior to that the motors were only date coded correct me if I am wrong

Well if that's the case, then it's just like all the rest in that respect, isn't it?

How is a 66 hemi rare when they made more hemis in 66 than any other year? So many in fact that when 68 cars came out they had 66 blocks. As you may have guessed there are no hemi blocks cast in 67. Yeah, super rare owned by so and so but don't ask!!

That's correct as far as I have seen and that's across the board - not just hemis.

I thought that, but I didn't know for sure so I stopped short.

Yes, More Hemi engines cast in 1966 than any other year and installed in 1966, 1967, and early 68 model cars.

Yes, no V.I.N.s stamped on the engines until 1968 model year.

Who owned the engine gives it no extra value to ME and for those that it MIGHT make a difference to without documentation it adds no value to them.

My guess from the sounds of the ad it was used for cam fitment/specs/etc. and a dissassembled test engine that has been put back togather. IF it has the original carbs, air cleaner, exhaust manifolds, fuel lines and oil pan and all date coded correct for the casting/assembly date it MIGHT be worth $20-25K to the RIGHT buyer.

"dont ask for documentation"...pass

X2, if it's so damn special ?? why no at least some photos also ?? no ducumentation, the family doesn't want to be bothered ?? ...LOL.. sounds like a story/myth nothen' more ??
