Super Stock Spring Front Hanger Brackets

I just bought my S/S springs for my '63 330, MP 3400#. They seem to match segment length of the original set removed, so I assume I can use the original front hanger brackets from the car ? I also bought the recommended extended brackets, P4120080, but these should be used on '64-'65 only ? Just looking for confirmation from those of you who have used this set up, so I clean, prep, and paint the right parts to go in. Thanks for your input...

Dang....I think you are correct. At least on the late 60's versions of super stock springs, the front section of the SS springs are "A-body length... maybe about 3"-4" shorter than the b-body length. If your '63 has shorter front spring sections (I don't know), then you would not need the SS shackles.

For the job itself, prep/paint what's necessary for you & smear a bunch of white lithium grease in the bushing areas front/back spring bushings. It's easiest to buy some new U-bolts & just cut the old ones off. That big front spring bolt can get pretty rusty in there, so keep the "blue flame wrench" handy. I'd probably soak all the nuts/bolts pretty good in PB Blaster for 2-3 days before I did the job & hose them down every day.

I think ‘purple’ is correct; my ‘68 needed the longer brkt. Frt half of s/s spring is 2” shorter I think(at least in 67-69?)

62 and 63 have the same front segment as the SS springs. Use your original hangers.

If they sit too high.... you can take them to a spring shop and have them rearced to have the car sit lower

you must use your original hanger since your springs set have 20 inches front segment

The springs are correct. I used them on my 1962 about 10 years ago, but the ones they sell today have more arch in them. I just put them on my 1963 Fury. I used 2 right sides so the car will set level. If the car is still to high when I'm done, I will use lowing blocks to set the correct height. Much cheaper and easier than re-arching the springs.

I wouldn't advise using lowering blocks and to rearch the Springs only cost at the most $20 per spring.... you don't even have to take them apart..

my front hangers from mount to bolt whole is 4 inches. my springs are total 56 and 21 inch front 35 rear. left spring has what looks like shims and the car sets level. now got to get my tires and wheels on it.

I have a 63 Dodge that we lowered the springs 4 inches to the point where quarter panel wheel lip is one and a half inches above the tire rim... we have a 64 Plymouth that was done the same way...both cars run in the low 9 second range... the 63 has the stock wheel base but the 64 has 1-inch altered wheelbase when you use stock brackets...
It's also good to have the rear leaf spring hangers facing towards the rear when installation is done

I use the 3400 lb Super Stock springs on my 63 and yes they bolted right on using the original front hangers. The SS springs are the same size as the A-body springs on my boys Dart in lenth. I use the right and left part # springs and then adjust the torsion bars if it sits unlevel. I actually raised my rear a tad as it sat a bit lower then I liked. I bought some heavy duty shackles and drilled the holes where I wanted them to have the car sit like in the pic. Then I cut off and extra and rounded the corners off to try and keep it looking stock as I hate to see extra shackle lenth hanging under the car in the back. Ron

You can see how the shackles have no extra hanging down since I cut the extra off so they look stock. Ron

Both, I hope. My '63 is getting a lot more attention to detail & finish, although it will see some track time at some events that have the chance to run it. The '65 will be more of a Saturday Night special, with the idea of running it more in some local, and NSS events.
