I have a couple of questions:

1. Where is the best place to by a Max Wedge Hood scoop at a reasonable price?

2. Which rear springs should I use on my 64 Belvedere street car? I have a brand new set of 3800 lb super stock ones but I'm afraid they'll send the tail end into sky. I just want a nice rake and to get rid of the helper coil overs in it now.

3. How the heck do I keep my aftermarket shifter cable out of the darn headers? Has anyone used the Imperial conversions cable to run a stock console shifter with the later trans?

Sorry so long. Just trying to learn.

1. Kramer, SledCity, are the only ones that come to mind...also e-bay.
2. Dont know enough to make a judgement call on the springs.
3.a. Have you tried stainless steel clamps?
b. I want to know this one also.

Sorry, not much help...someone will chime in who knows this stuff.

Absolutely no doubt that Sled City has the best scoop for the best price IMO. I have the 3800 SS springs (from Mancini) on my '65 Coronet along with the expended hangars and it does not sit high in the rear. Before changing to manifolds and 4 speed, I had no problem with the stock 1965 cableshift trans cable interfering with the hedman headers. Sounds like you are using an aftermarket setup. What about using a linkage type shifter rather than a cable type? Lokar comes to mind as a possible option.

It's a Hurst Quarter Stick and the 3 foot cable is too short and the 5 footer is too long and hits the Hedman Headers. Grrrr. I was thinking to get the imperial conversions kit to use a factory console shifter, But I'd probably be into the same thing. I had the mopar superstocks on my 69 dart and they only brought it up an inch or so. I have the long hangers for these as well. never thought of lokar. Do you have any pics of your coronet?

The first pic with the A990 grille and scoop is what I had before changing to more of a "sleeper" look, just finished, as shown in the second pic. Still thinking about torque thrusts or steelies with poverty hubcaps to replace the prostars. Since the second pic was taken after paint, I have converted to a 4 speed, repainted the engine the proper turquoise color, and installed manifolds in place of the headers. Anybody looking for a 1965 BB 727?

Wedgie, very sharp looking Coronet!!!!

Nice Ride. What are you running for rear tires and backspacing?

The rear tires in the pics are Mickey Thompson N-50's. I recently purchased a pair of Mickey 12.5X29's which will give a bit more height and keep the section width at about 14". The prostars are 10" with the smallest backspace available. I had the housing shortened and axles made at Moser Engineering. The car is mini-tubbed and the springs are moved into the longitudinals. Still want to change the wheel setup for the look that I am now after.

i had the same problem. take a piece of sheet metal, bend it, drill it, bolt it on the front corner of trans pan in b/t header and cable. works for me with no problems at all .........

Great Idea 65. I think I'll do just that. Thanks for the info Wedgie. I'm glad I stumbled onto this forum. I'm getting some good info. I'll throw a couple of pics of the 64 when I get a chance.

I melted my first 5' cable while cruising Brice Road in 2000 so I know your problem.

For the second cable: I covered it in heat sleeve, wrapped the headers and made a bracket to hold the cable away from the header. No pics but I hope you get the idea. The heat sleeve/header wrap might not be needed but I wasn't taking any chances.

Make sure you have a good ground from the firewall to the motor as well.

Sometimes the shifter cable can act as the ground and melt the sleeve due to improper grounding.
