Surprise! My drive shaft is NOT for my car. Someone pulled a fast one.

I have been working on this car for years. I tried to put in the drive shaft in tonight and its too long. The guy I purchased the car from told me he pulled it out himself. I never had it in the car. I just assumed it was the one for the car. What do I do now? the splines dont even match.

What the hell is this thing to?

Here are some pictures of my car and the drive shaft. I measured from the ends of the drive shaft not the center of the joints

At least it is too long. It can be shortened. Did you change transmission or engine or diff in the car?
I had the trans rebuilt motor is just another rebuilt 440, diff was changed too but its the same length. the spines don't mate up to the trans

It appears that you need a 1969-70 7290 u joint 3.25 diameter 52.07inch center to center on the u joint drive shaft. Not sure about the spline in the pumpkin. might help if you count the splines in the u joint and yolk. Maybe post a wanted ad. People in this group know far more than I do about this. Good luck!

Parts get mixed up. Is the guy still around? Odds are, you have the driveshaft he needs and he still has your correct one.

BTW, you said: "Here are some pictures of my car"

I haven't been able to find him for a while. I hope he is still around. His name is Ernest Geiman from Virginia. I Purchased the car in 2004.
He was kind of old then. Anybody know him? He was big into b bodies.

I have a couple B Body drive shafts in my shed, you are welcome to check them out.....

This might be him on Facebook; and note the pictures of Mopars he has posted.

What rear leaf spring front hangers did you use? Plymouth and dodge B body front hangers are different by about one inch where the leaf spring attaches, therefore, will move the rearend forward or backward that much. Just check everything. Thanks, Steve

Found Ernie. He is here on B bodies only. He joined May of this year. BTW He is only 74. My bad
Of course he is, this is where all the cool guys hang out....
