Tail light housing restoration

What was the original finish on tail light housings for 67 coronet rt? Were they just painted or plated?

Can't say specifically bout a 67 Coronet but most including my 68 Coronet are Zinc Dichromate like a Holley carburetor...

I usually clean them up lightly with my bead blaster, then spray the reflective side with chrome paint from a rattle can. You can either leave the outside as from the blaster or spray with clear. Just remember they do need to ground for proper operation of the lights. @1 Wild R/T is correct on the original finish.

I'm not sure of the exact chemical process but it's more brown/gold like a Holley carb & not the yellow zinc like is applied to grade 8 bolts....
