I am planning on converting my 66 Coronet to disc. I have been reading a Mopar Action tech article http://www.moparaction.com/tech/archive/disc-main.html that cautions against using the FMJ and 73 up b-body spindles.

Here is a quote from the article: "Do not succumb to the temptation to use "lookalike" knuckles from later Mopars, such as 73-up B/R-bodies, F/J/M bodies, etc. These parts, while visually very similar, are taller, altering suspension geometry (camber change, bump steer, etc.), and possibly forcing the ball joints beyond their designed range, a/k/a “over angling”."

My question is, has anyone checked this out for sure, I know they will bolt on, but is there any need to worry about over-angling or ball joint breakage?

Taller spindle's

As far as I'm aware of, there are plenty of car's out on the road with these type of spindle's mounted to them, I think there are myth's out there on this type of set-up. Maybe someone will respond to your post that has this type of set-up on their car. Good luck on your adventure.

This is the best information I can give you on the spindles.

E-booger makes some very valid points that I would keep in mind. (He's way smarter than I'll ever be).

I do have the later spindles on my 69 Valiant and have had no problems in over six years of almost DD duty. (I also have a pair of 73-76 A body spindles that I may try eventually for my own comparison). I believe that the A body spindle is now reproduced and you can use the brake components from the later donor cars.

Thanks for the link, Revendo. It really clears things up. 3/8" difference in height is negligible as far as i am concerned, I thought the difference in height was greater.

No worries. It's not a huge difference and I have been running it for years on my street car. If and when she starts doing more track time (road course), I'll be keeping a closer eye on it.
