I am mini tubbing my Plymouth this winter. I am planning on running a 15x12 wheel with a 31" tall by 14" wide tire, will I need to have the opening for the rear wheel opened a little more? I currently run a 315/60/15 tire. not real sure how tall that is, but it fills the wheel opening nicely. Just looking for some thoughts about anyone who did this.
Thanks for the help!

I'm tubbed with ladder bars. Biggest i can get with a 15 x 12 with a 5" backspace is 29.5 x10.5W-15 mickey thompson.

with a 15 x 10 wheel i can get a 31 x 10.5W x 15 think its a 5.5 backspace.I also narrowed my rear about an inch FWIW.

now my 65 dodge that is minitubbed can get a 15 x 10 with a 6.5 backspace and can fit a 31 x 10.5W x15 but no way you are getting a 15 x 12 wheel under there.And its tight.

just for info, your current tire maths out to aprox 29.88 inch's tall.loose and deflated of course.fully inflated can add upto 3/4 of an inch to it.

I've seen 31" but I don't think they look correct in the stock wheel well. There is quite a bit of space in the front wheel opening behind the tire, even with 28". I opened the rear wheel well 4"longer to use a 31". That way the tire fits the rear wheel well opening like the front.

I know on my 63 my wheelwells are stock and I have a 30 x 9 tire on it. It has enough room to fit a 31" tire in the stock wheelwell if I wanted to but thats about it for the stock wheelwell. Ron

31 x what?

Just a suggestion; if you are going to move the springs inboard and mini-tub, you might consider also moving the spring front mounts back a bit. This will center the wheel in the wheel well, allowing the max diameter tire. If yours is like mine was, the tire diameter limit was at the front edge of the wheel well opening. If I remember right, I moved mine back about 3/4".

31 x what?

Well thats the question. I would like to try a taller tire and since I know I can fit a 31 under it I wish they made a 31 x 9 or 10. Cant go much wider then 10.5 or the tire will rub on turns and I dont think anyone makes a 31 x 9 or 10. Basically I was stating that the 31 inch tall will fit. I think I can drop some gear and go just as fast but thats why I would like to try a taller tire first. Ron
