I have a chance to pick this up but I'm not sure about it. First is it a good deal? Second how mush would it cost to finish it. 1971 H440 complete long block minus pistons, bearings gaskets etc. Block was cleaned checked for cracks and bored .030 over for new pistons. Have stock crank and rods, new aluminum water pump and housing, new Pro Max aluminum 84cc assembled heads. New pro comp roller rockers. New Edelbrock Victor intake, also have all stock parts from intake to pan.block is ready to hone to your piston choice and assemble.Have the stock bare heads ready to build also. Will sell minus heads if you don't want the aluminum heads.Have $3800.00 invested asking $2300.00 OBO

Fyi a long block is everything minus intake carb...
Doesn't sound bad but not great either, were the rods resized? , crank polished/turned? heads are probably $1100-1300, not sure which rockers but $300+, w/p $100, intake $200.. Your getting the other components and machine work for $2-300...
Probably another $2000-2500 @ minimum picking up deals or used parts here and there to make it run. Depending on what you're going for... Hyp piston $400+. Rings bearings $200 +/- , gaskets $50-100, cam and lifters $150-1000, pushrods $100-150, timing set $100 pulleys $50-100, carb $100-500, I haven't added headers, starter , alt ect but you can see it adds up. Not counting any additional machine work you will need or checked by a machinist...
Good luck

He says obo, I’d go in at $1500 and go from there, long way to go to get that thing ready.

You'll have to get a different diz, B and RBs are different. You can usually find a good used msd unit under $200 all day...
Halifax sells rebuilt or units I believe....stay away from the $50 eBay hei, they are junk!

Gotta admit this is how I feel. Why is the guy selling it apart since it is sooo close to going together? Now an old, greasy longblock that hasn't been screwed with...yes.
