I'm gathering info on some B block stroker motor builds. Share what you have built, are building and especially what you would do different. I've been reading a bit on the common 451 build but am interested in comparing it to the other builds that use the same 400 block platform.

440 stoke to 493

440 bored 30 over with a eagle stroker assy.4.350x4.150=493 cu,12.5 75cc forged flat top pistons,edlebrock victor 440 heads,crane rollerized solid cam with 650 lift with a total duration 316,edelbrock 440 intake with a holley 950cfm.That about sums her up.
 
When you said B stroker builds I figured you ment just low blocks. But I can tell you about my 440 stroker. Its very close to "383cam's" build. I have the 440source kit with the 4.15 crank and it is 493 cubes at .030 over. Has dished pistons for 10.6 comp with quench as it runs on 92 pump. Thats with Indy EZ heads prepped by Dwayne Porter and a solid flat tapped speced by Dwayne also that is 264 & 270 @ .050 with about .592 lift but with my 1.6 rockers is about .630 lift. 110 LSA and I have it in on a 106 centerline. Indy dual plane intake and a Holley 850 DP. 2" TTI headers and 3" exh out to rear bumper.
Its in my 63 Sport Fury street car and it has a Dynamic 9.5 converter and 4.30's with 30" tires. I drive it alot and drive it to the track. At 3700 lbs so far its run 10.76 @ 124.49 thru the pipes on 92 pump. Ron

I've got a pretty simple combination...

-.030 over 383 stroked to 438 cu. in. (440 Source Kit)
-port matched (intake/exhaust) "906" heads
-Mopar Performance intake
-Lunati "Voodoo" cam .494 in. .513 exh.
-ProForm 850 carb
-"Stock" cast iron exhaust manifolds into 2 1/2 in. TTI exhaust
-hydraulic lifters
-adjustable roller rockers
-stock geared A833 4spd/McLeod clutch
-3:23 geared 8 3/4 in. diff.

This combination turns at about 2500 rpm @ 70 mph with 275/60R 15 drag radials and runs at 165-180 degrees most of the time. Even at around 4000 lbs with me behind the wheel it pulls like a prairie freight train through 4th gear and is more than capable of surprising unsuspecting brand X drivers

Goose check out the 9-10-11 & 12 second or faster Et's car posts at top of the Racers Hangout page started by Alleyoopmgv, there are combos there including mine in detail in the "9 second ET or faster section", it's a 479ci 383 @ 0.040" over 4.15" stroker, full roller, Eddy RPM ported aluminum heads, 727 auto 8-3/4 axle, very streetable & fast, there's many very affordable & well performing combos in that section, check it out...

Nice car! sounds like a good combo on the motor too. I do have a few 383's sitting around also, hmmmmmm. things to think of....

Built the 451 stroked 400 block in 1992 with a Muscle Motors short block consisting of machined 440 crank to fit the 400 block, reconditioned 440 rods with ARP bolts, and custom Ross pistons that had a small dish in them for 11:1 compression for use with my 65cc Brodix B1-B/S heads with stage1 porting from Koffels. Used a mild Ultradyne street roller cam, solid roller lifters, cut to length pushrods from Koffels, and the 1.6:1 rocker arms also from Koffels. The cam was only 251/251 @ 0.050" duration with 0.614" valve lift. It was really easy on valve springs. Intake was the M1 single plane 4150 base with a Holly 1,000cfm 4150 HP carb. 2" Hooker headers and 3" TTI H-pipe exhaust.
Oil pan is the Milodon Low Profile 7-Qt, stock windage tray, and Melling HV pump with 1/2" internal oil pickup. Car ran great on the street and went 11.7's @ 115 mph in Las Vegas in my 4100 pound Charger (the car is not setup for drag racing so the ET's are slow.)
I ran that engine for over 10 years and it broke an intake valve while racing and wiped out the engine, so I built a 500" stroked 400 a few years ago using a 4.15" stroker kit from 440 source. I used the flat tops and the Edelbrock Max wedge Victor heads. Re-purposed the oil pan, carb, headers, and ignition from the 451. used an Indy single plane intake, T&D 1.6:1 rockers and a custom comp cam with the HXL roller lobes with a mild duration 264/264 @ 0.050" and 0.714"/0.714" lift. This cam is harder on springs so I used PAC 1325 springs and Crower Ti retainers. On the chassis dyno it made about 100 HP more than the 451, and alot more torque. It was also 12.4:1 compression.
The car is only about 0.7-0.8 sec quicker, but traction is a big issue with my old worn out street ET tires.
My latest project is a 505" stroked 440. Using the 440 source 4.25" stroke kit with the 7.10" rods and 17cc dished pistons with the stealth heads. This is a mild street build and I'm using a comp XR286HR-10 hydraulic roller cam, Hughes roller lifters, and cat 1.7:1 rocker arms. The cam is 236/242 @ 0.050" duration 110 lsa installed at 106. Lift with 1.7:1 ratio should be 0.617"/0.614", but if I did this again I would get some better rockers and maybe the 1.6:1 ratio so spring choice is easier. i am using Isky 8005A valve springs. Hemi oil pan, and the 4.15" stroker molded windage tray/pan gasket from jegs, slightly modified for the larger stroke. HV pump, 1/2" internal pickup. Edelbrock performer RPM intake and a Holley ultra street avenger 770 cfm (for now.) 1-7/8" TTI headers and small 2-1/2" TTI x-pipe exhaust with huge Walker quiet flow ss mufflers (if they fit?) I just got this engine built and should have the okd engine out of the car this weekend it the weather is decent...
 
Here's an old combo I thought I would add to the mix done in 1990-ish {thanks to Joe Piassano's help} 512ci w/440 O-ringed block @ 0.060" over 4.380" bore Venolia 11:1 custom blower pistons @ Zero deck/flat top, Childs & Albert Zero Gap rings, Childs & Albert 7.0" Aluminum Rods, Child & Albert rod & main bearings, Kieth Black Billet 4.25" stroke, 7.125" diameter reduced radius, counter balanced & knife ground, 8 bolt crankshaft, 1964 Cast Iron "Highly modified" Max Wedge Super Stock III heads ported polished by Paul Phaff in SoCal w/0.125" longer 2.14" intakes & 1.88" exhaust 11/32" Manley pro flow undercut Titanium valves, Crane 0.750"/310* "ballpark" solid roller {I don't remember exact specs now}, 1.6:1 Crane Super Gold roller rockers bronze bushed & hardened O/S shafts, custom length Smith Brothers 7/16" cup & ball hardened moly push rods, 1.625" triple Crane valve springs & Titanium Retainers & 10*locks, 0.30"-0.070" Hussie copper "dead soft" head gaskets depending on what elevation I was running & what compression I needed, custom Fowler sheet metal blower manifold with dual pop off valves, Mert Littlefield either 8:71 or 10:71 Roots High Helix Blower, depending on track conditions & altitudes, Enderle Bird Catcher Injector hat with 8 additional down nozzles in the intake ports, a custom Waterman 250gph Metanol Pump, 3 high speed bypass valves @ different pressures & shut off valve, some custom made Don Torte 2"-2.25"-2.5" stepped Long Funny Car style Zoomie headers, custom tall sheet metal valve covers, Moroso 4 stage wet sump pump & Milidon Funny Car style pan with, #12/5/8" swing pick up custom crank scrapper & screened windage tray, MSD Super Mag, Moroso 10mm Blue Max s/s shielded solid copper core wires, ERC Methanol all used in my 23T Altered 125" w/b F/C Don Torte Chassis, 2100lbs with my fat a$$ in the car, Titanium can & Crower clutch & Jeffco 2 speed, 15"x33" Good Years, 4.56:1 Lenco 12 Bolt full floater rear end {too much gear}, mild tune w/very little clutch weight 6.90's @ 190mph all day long, using an aggressive tune/clutch & larger down nozzles w/10:71 blower & aggressive set 3 high speeds, ran high 6.60's @ 200-209mph best...
 
Mine has a Eagle 4.15 stroke/6.86 BME aluminum rods..4.380 bore,custom JE dish blower pistons for a 7.5:1 static compression-906 heads:2.14 int/1.88 exh port+bowl+gasket match..crane custom solid roller .700/.715 lift-286*-306* (blower grind) harland sharp 1.5 roller rockers,smith bros (.080 wall) pushrods-C&A zero gap rings/windage tray,milodon 8 qt pan,indy maxx oil pump,w/dual pick up- BDS stage 2 8/71 @24% overdrive..had x2 quick fuel 1150 E85 (HP dominators),now currently upgrading to a bug w/ alky injection & mechanical belt drive pump..msd billet dizzy w/mech adv- locked out @32*..msd 7AL2..hooker super comps w/3" flowmaster to rear bumper..that about sums it up...I never had an engine rev as fast as this one & it actually kinda scares me...loloh ya K-motion springs K-1000 inst@-2"...& is hard on the springs (cam center is 112*)

Do you remember the rest of the cam specs? centerline and overlap? That sounds pretty close too being the roller version with more lift of the DC. .509 Purple Shafts 248*@.050

I think it was 108 LSA? It came installed from Muscle Motors and I think it was 102 centerline?
I sold the old cam and lifters a few years ago.

Nice Charger! Sounds a bit more streetable than my current combination. My old 500 (really 499") engine was tore down after repairing the rocker stand on the Victor heads.
The original machine shop "balanced" the 440 source 4.15" crank, and added weight to it, but it never felt balanced, so I took it to another shop and when they balanced it, they ended up removing the weight the other shop added. I was going to re-install my Victor heads, but around Christmas Hughes Engines had a good deal on their "Monster" max wedge CNC ported Victor heads that are supposed to flow around 400 cfm, so I got a set. Using all PAC valve springs, locators, and retainers we managed to install the PAC-1326 valve springs in at 1.950". I also went to a slightly larger Comp HXL lobe cam, 272/278 @ 0.050", 0.726" lift (1.6:1 ratio), 110 LSA cam. I also changed the pushrods to the thick 0.145 wall 3/8" Smith Brother pushrods. I fired up the engine and ran it a few times on race gas (around 12.3 or 12.4:1 compression), then I just recently converted to E-85. This engine pulls real good to 7,000+. I have a 7,000 RPM chip in the MSD, but I want to see the power curve on a chassis dyno it see if I should raise the rev limit. I have driven this on the street and it is not that bad, but I think it may be too high maintance for a street engine. The valve spring pressures are well over 700 pounds open.
