Been having with my temp guage on my 67 Coronet 500, 318. I put in a new circuit board (not one taken out of another car) along with a voltage limiter in the dash. Turns out the original gauge was NG because the wire inside it was burned in half. I had a used speedometer panel out of a 69 Dart. The guages were the same except the way they were mounted. I fashioned it so it fit in the Coronet dash. It instantly burned up also. Is there something else I should be looking for as to the reason they torch themselves? The wire from the sender, also new, to the bulkhead conn. is good. Thanks, Dave

Sounds like the sending unit, or the wire to it, is shorted. With the wire disconnected at both ends, put one lead of your ohmmeter on the wire, and the other lead to ground. Continuity indicates a short. Test the sender by putting one lead on the terminal and the other lead to ground. Here, you will get some resistance reading, but near zero means a short.
