I need a quality turn signal switch for my Charger. The car is a daily driver and the terrible aftermarket turn signal switch I purchased for it has failed me in less than a year. My right brake light goes out when it is in the neutral position, but it works when the left turn signal is on. The contacts are already worn. The factory one lasted almost 50 YEARS before this same type of thing started to happen.

Any advice on where to get one that will last another 50 years? Or at least 10?

Thank you

If your contacts are worn, you could try building them up with some silver solder and get a couple more years out of them.

I agree.....Had the same problem myself in the Coronet. Ended up getting one out of a junked Mopar. Replaced the little white and little red wire in the switch in the signaling cam and has worked flawlessly since.

The new ones never work....Get an old one... I tried 3 different new ones and they werent designed correctly. POS!!!! Good luck!!

What year Charger?

'66 Charger

I think I throw my old one out. I had too much confidence in the new one apparently. I tried to build the old one up with the solder before I replaced it and the most I got out of it was a few months and I got tired of redoing it. Maybe I wasn't using good solder.

Great, I put a new one in mine.

Go on the web site (maxwedge.com)there is a guy advertising signal switches, he has one for your Charger. I bought one for my 62. He does an awesome job, no Chinese junk. All American made.

I have a couple 66's here...bought new switches off ebay a few years ago...no problems..

the site above is a good deal

Thank you!!! I think this is the solution. Awesome.

I bought mine from slantsixdan on this forum. Great quality and works perfectly. Definately recommend him.

I know this is an old thread, but just for the record the new switch I got from maxwedge.com is everything I was hoping it would be! And for an awesome price! It feels solid, contacts are good and consistent, and it fit right at home. THANK YOU!! This switch is great!! I'm tempted to buy 2 more to last me a lifetime for this car!

yup...those are the ones I am running as well.....when I bought mine, all that was available were the ones with the 1/4" flat spade terminals at the end. I found a source for the correct "twin-loc" terminals and crimped them to the new switch. The one with OE terminals was not available when I bought my 2 switches

I have the same problem with 1 I bought from Herbs parts.if it isnt exactly in the neutral position what ever side it is more over to the brake light dosent work on that side.before I leave the house I make sure i have both brake lights and then just use hand signals to make turns like the old days.I got a new one from Ebay and it is made By Shee-Mar INC.I will try this one they claim it is just like the factory originals.I looks better made than the one from Herbs, guess I will try it and see. Thats half the fun of this hobby always something to do.
