so i was bored and i was just surfing ebay when i stumbled on this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Plym...82cQQitemZ200481548332QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks

now if the link dont work ill give a quick over view so this numbers matching car was bought from a barret jackson auction for 80k then these guys rip out the whole reason it would be worth anything even remotely close and put a crate motor in it. wtf who would buy a numbers matching car just to make it a no longer numbers matching. and then they supposedly have over 200k invested in it? seems to me like a scam or some really stupid people. thats now one less numbers matching car and for what it is you could have done all that for around what he bought the car for in the first place with a rolling chassis car, oh and is it just me or do you think that vin tag might be a fake after all it is missing a rivet and the chrysler corp. and penstar are missing

Love the gas tank!, but I hear you, if you are going to build a car like that, you can't believe you are going to make your money back. There are hundreds of non #'s matching Road Runner project cars out there that you do that to and you still can't expect to make your money back. That being said, awesome car!.

$200,000 and they couldn't come up with another rosette rivet? :rolling::rolling::rolling::rolling:

I dunno, it sounds plausible to me. He was obviously more worried about modern conveniences than rivets or, you know... sanity.

I know people this stupid, and some of them (unfortunately) have enough money to do something like this.

Pour some liquor...

83k was too much to begin with in my opinion. Must have bought and redid it when they (baby boomers) still had money in their retirement plan

I figure the owner isn't impressed with the finished result.......he hasn't even done 50miles in it.:edgy:

But.....I'm gonna get me one of them there special starter motors.

"Cars of Dreams", that's what he's doing if he thinks he's going to sell it for that price, "dreaming"

Kinda strange how so much cash was spent, but there are a bunch of "black steel" parts under the car that are covered with surface rust......if that don't look trashy I don't know what does.......every one of those parts should have been swapped out for stainless steel, OR properly prepped and clearcoated before installation............

...........That car isn't worth anywhere NEAR his investment, and not only for the detailing problems.

Is it just me or is that the wrong seat for a 69? I'm just say'n, for $200,000 you could have got the right seat.

I love the hardware store bolt mounting the alternator. It's the wrong bolt (obviously), wrong color (obviously), and the wrong length (obviously)

But like P.T. Barnum said....."There's a sucker born every minute"

It's not just you. It's a '70 seat. I was thinking the same thing. Says he wanted the interior to appear stock. If you want a stock appearing interior, go with the correct year bench. Hell, when you blow that much money, why go with a bench seat at all?

did you notice the question asked about the 68? someone asked if they'll take 40k for this CLONE and their response was sorry were not interrested in selling the engine and trans alone. i know you can spend a lot in an engine trans combo but 40k? so i guess that means the 160 is all in the rolling chassis lol at least this time with the 68 they didnt ruin a numbers matching car

It's this kind of Barrett-Jackson mentality that's ruining the hobby for the rest of us who actually really love our cars. Lots of idiots out there with more money than brains and this seller proves that. :black_eye:

On a similar note, here's another part of the hobby that REALLY pisses me off. People on ebay and other similar sites putting prices on parts like this seller does! $3400.00 for a 1966 factory console mounted, 6000 rpm tach? Yes, it IS a cool piece, but $3,400.00?:edgy::rolling:

Richard

By the way, after you look at this tach, check out some of his other parts and prices~

I guess I'd feel bad about gouging someone on a part like that, but a big score would be real nice about now

that car with the original 383 is realistically worth 30k maybe, that's being generous in tody's market!

I'm still getting over the guy that created a right hand drive monstrosity out of my old numbers matching 69 Charger R/T SE and now I see this. Like everyone says, why take apart a numbers car to build this? Just find a rusty body and save it. I'm having a hard time seeing $200K of craftsmanship here.

Yeah, $200K and can't find a rosette rivet :rolling::rolling: That's just lame.

That tranny cooler probably doesn't do much cooling near the exhaust pipe on a hot day. At least put it in a stainless box with an air duct!! And what's with all that rubber hose???
