"The Right Stuff" - rear disc question

Anyone running the right stuff disc brake kits? Front rotors/calipers are ok, rear setup is a little uhhhh... odd. I sent them these pictures and they assured me it was "standard". In all my years of wrenching I have never seen an overlapping brake pad. What do you guys think? I think I'm going to email them again.

EDIT: after some exchanged emails, I was able to get some pictures from the right stuff... apparently it's normal, so here they are in case anyone else comes up with this issue too.

The distance the pad is above the rotor is about the same distance it is off the bottom of the rotor. Something looks wrong with that picture to me. Wrong pads, pads cut wrong???? You need to check into this more.

Pads look too large for rear brakes. Only seeing them from an edge, and not compared to front pads. Front pads are usually twice the size as the rears IIRC...

Yeah I'm running the right stuff kit on the rear. On a Dana, but the same set up. My rear pads are running dead even on the rotors. I mean, there is about 3/16" of rotor on the inside / outside that the pads are not running on. The polished rotors indicate that. Something's not right with yours. Like the brackets are not getting the calipers low enough.
The only problem I had / have with the rears is that the bleeders are not right at the very top when bolted in place. Makes it a beotch to bleed. I just remove one bolt, tip the caliper back so the bleeder is dead up, bleed to get that last bit of air out, reassemble and good to go.

The reason is those calipers were never designed to be put on that car or rotor.....its gm stuff . they have the parking brake built in to the caliper right? that's what you get when its redesigned to fit "every car". It will work but not to 100%. Maby you have the caliper brackets on the wrong sides of the axle. try swaping them.

Yes that is the type of caliper, for the ebrake. The kit bolted on as nice as any kit could. The kit is not installed wrong. LOL.

Then it's just made wrong, sorry not trying to be crappy but I have seen and installed that stuff and never liked the way they fit or worked....even on the cars they used them on when new good luck with them

No worries, and yes, the calipers brackets should have the calipers tipped back a little further. But then the e-brake cables would then be pointing upwards somewhat. The Dana ends are installed properly with the flats up so it is what it is. The kit has been on the car for 4 years and work fine.

Back to this fellow's issue, it sounds like the brackets are the problem, holding the caliper too far outward.

Yeah I wish I could have sprung for a bigger kit, but the wallet didn't allow it... and the brakes were pretty much non-existant on the car when I bought it. I emailed them... Can't wait to see what they say. I could try switching the bracket to the other side (front) of the axle and see what happens but the instructions were clear on the fact that you could put them on either side - the only potential issue would have been the shock mounts.

The right stuff kit works good. Will be interesting to see what they say. On my kit I have the E-brake, that I don’t use now as I just 1/4 mile the car now. Had I swapped the brackets around to the front the cables would exit towards the back of the car.

Not in my book, I'd be packing that junk up and sending it back. What are those brake pads going to look like with about 50% wear. Let alone the brake squeal your going to have as they wear.

Got to agree with Jerry on this one and the fact that it never used to be normal on previous Right Stuff kits. Almost seems like Right Stuff is going to a "one size bracket is being used to fit multiple sized rotors ".

I won't be buying Right Stuff any longer seeing that this is what they call normal. They have the pads missing the bloody rotors..

Moser listed my kit as using 1981 Cadillac Eldorado calipers and pads. I noticed in the 5th picture in your update that it looks different than mine. See if your pads match the pictures on Rock Auto's site.
