When I was in college I went to buy some art supplies for this class I was taking, so I went to Echo Arts in Union, NJ.
I walked in and there was this big freakish guy at the cash register buying a couple tubes off paint.
I walked up and asked; are you a wrestler, he said YES, I asked are you The Ultimate Warrior, he said YES then I said WHAT'S UP and shook his hand. Yes it was the Real Ultimate Warrior, shaking his hand was good enough, I didn't ask for an autograph.

Too bad, he was just inducted into the WWF hall of fame. Loved to watch him woop on Hulk Hogan.

The article doesn't say what the Ultimate Warrior died from specifically, but many pro wrestlers have died at a very young age, very sad. RIP Mr Hellwig.

RIP James, 54 is way to young to die...

Some days it pays to not be physically fit, like me.

Isn't he like the 4th ultimate warrior to die??

Maybe you were thinking of Kerry Von Erick (sp?) The "Texas Tornado" who looked a lot like UW but James Hellwig was the original Ultimate Warrior. I also loved watching this guy as a kid!

He legally changed his name to "Warrior" some time ago. Him and WCW legend sting were actually discovered together as bodybuilders in Venice beach and were asked to consider wrestling because of their physiques.... Lead to one of the most entertaining and memorable of all time! RIP!!

too many "Roids" no-doubt contributed, common story with WWF/WWE, Big Time Pro-Scripted Wrestlers

He WAS one of my favorites, along with Ricky "the dragon" Steamboat

Jesus that was fun stuff.
Bobby the Brain, Andre, Jesse the @ss commentating, “Inter-Continental Championship”.
Poor Andre knew he would lose 6 months before he stepped into the ring.
While a touch corny, those guys physically worked so hard, for the sake of entertainment.
I’ll bet Andre was waiting there to give the Warrior a full hammer lock-body slam when he stepped through the gate.
