OK -same physical dealer, same location -under different ownership.while the '68 Charger was still a living breathing monster, in 1970 I did a driveby of the dealership -on the lot was a '70 plum crazy Dodge Challenger(sorry for dipping into E-body world -can't be helped) . I had to check it out. it had the bubbled hood with 383 magnum badge but was a factory 318- in reality, that was OK too. after talking with the salesman and agreeing on the price ($3200.00?), we talked about the condition, even though it was a 22,000 mile car the white leather interior was extremely dirty as was the exterior. otherwise acceptable. the salesman told me to "drive it a couple days- see how it goes and tell me if it needs anything else, bring it in and we will detail the car for you, give it an oil change and check it over. sounded good,So- I drove it two days-no complaints and took it back in to the dealer found the salesman and he asked "can I help you"? yes I said I'm bringing the Challenger in for the detailing, oil change etc but everything else seems OK thanks. he said"where on the contract did you see "detail, wash, change oil etc"? if it isn't written on the contract it isn't going to happen, if you want it washed I suggest you get a bucket of water, some soap and get after it- laughed and walked away. wrong thing for him to do.. thinking of the 3 days to cancel a car contract I went to an attorney friend to see if I had a legal out, he made one phone cal, said Uh-huh, thanked the other end and hung up. then said to me guess what- that car was traded to this dealer (King Dodge,Norm King owner) 3 days ago From Santa Rosa with 49000 miles on it, at King Dodge it has 22 K miles on it, interesting. so he says- go back to the dealer tell them about the mileage and see what they want to do and if you see anything else on the car you want-tell them that too. the party's just getting started....I went to the dealer- the salesman seen me and triedto head me off- didn't work, I looked at the cars on the showroom till I was just furniture- nobody of interest in the place.I kept an eye on Norm King's office door when it finally opened and someone left I went straight to his office.surprised he asked -what do you want. We need to talk a minute Norm that's all. so I pointed out the fact it was sold/traded to them with 49K miles and I bought it he next day with 22K on the odometer. --silence.
he said what do you want. I told him, the salesman said he'd detail the car/wash it and change oil and filters then said he wouldn't because it wasn't on the contract. all he had to do was what we agreed on but now there are problems. especially the mileage. Ok he said what will make it right. well after your salesman was such a jerk I looked it over a lot more and the tires are near bald-illegal to sell in california with bald tires. I want the car detailed as promised I want new tires.and beings the mileage was so high it is almost off warranty- if I traded it in with those miles you'd discount for high miles- you look in your blue book and tell me what it would be worth with those miles,-we agreed it would be $500.00 less. I want the $500.00 back and the other work and we are good. leave the car here it will be done. picked it up next day, it looked like a new car detailed perfect ,paint re polished or what ever they did, 5 new polyglas wide oval tires (even the spare was now a full size wheel with a new tire) they changed oil and such ,it was gorgeous.no problems, norm called me into his office and asked if the car was OK, yes indeed it is Norm, then he handed me $500.00 cash- no receipt and nothing written anywhere .as I walked out he said "I trust this means you will not be going to the district attorney about the mileage? as I walked out- over my shoulder I said
where did you see that written on the contract? I wouldn't have thought about that till he asked so naturally I had to go to the DA and file a complaint. my complaint against Norm King Dodge was about # 74 for mileage setbacks- King dodge was history in about a month...am I bad? -no pictures of the challenger either- sorry

No you did the right thing fk them for screwing people over. You weren't the first one, you were just the first one to catch them and do something about it

one of many who caught him Norm was a snake . funny thing was- had the salesman not been an *** and just detailed the car it would have all been good. needless to say- his time there was shorter than Norms.

I LUV IT!! Kinda similar, ordered in a GMC 1/2 tin wayback and a week after getting it I was washing & noticed rt.side was ‘2500’(3/4 ton) instead of ‘1500’ , also checked and my halogen hi-beams weren’t there either. Went back & serv.manager had a lot of fun with the tech that did the pre-delivery prep on it. After everything fixed, we all had a good laugh (heck, I did many ‘preps’ back in the day myself).
