You're taking a chance of hitting the lower front wheel lip down by the rocker with any tire greater than 28" in diameter. Anything larger may require modifications.
I am running 275 60 15s with 10" wheels. I dont remember the backspace. It fills my wheel wells up good. My tires are 28" and only clear by 1/2" or less.
Looks like the 295/65's are 30" tall. Yeah they aren't going to fit without some major wheel opening mods. 295/55's are 27.8". That's all according to the Mickey Thompson website.
Do you think a 295/55 15 will fit or is a 275 pretty much as big as you can squeeze under it?That would give me a 28 tall and 11.5 wide.Is anyone using their car at the drag strip and what size slicks are you guys running?
I think it could be done with 295/55's. I'm running 295/50/15's on 10" rims with a 5" B.S. so width should be good. As long and the height is less than 28" I would think it would work. You should do some measuring on your car to make sure.
A member over on 66-67 Charger board is running 10 inch wide by 27 1/2 inch tall Mickey Thompsons on a 8 inch rim with a 5 inch backspace. He's running 11.50's@115.
Well the guys here directed me to the 275/60/15 just under 11" in width. your tire is 2" taller and 11.5" in width. I am buying the ones noted so that is all I can input. hope that it helps.
Sounds good guys. Thanks for all the info.I knew that the wheel wells were taller on the Charger than the Coronet so I was thinking that I could get away with a 30" tall tire/29.5x11.5 slick.I will be running a 440-6 pack with a .528 Mopar cam, a 3500 stall and either 3.91 or 4.10 gears (haven't decided which gear set is going in which car yet).It will be making a few trips to the track but mostly be used as a cruiser with plenty of highway miles put on it.
