Thinking of buying 60 Dodge

Just wondering what your varying opinions of this would be.
It's a 60 Dart Seneca, leaning tower of power slant 6 fires right up, 3 on the tree, it's all there, chrome is ok, interior is all there, dash all original and in one piece. Needs a good cleaning (dusty) needs tires, alignment, possibly brakes. Oh yes....the body work, as you can see it does have some pretty crapy patches around the bottoms on both sides, couple of floor holes that have been patched up. (Just for a fun project, to get it street worthy, maybe primer it and drive it, not a restoration). Seller is asking $2500.

If you could make that into a driver and fix it up to do just that, I think it would look, and be great.

A lot of ways to go with that: 1) Clean it up to Original 2) Rat Rod it 3) Retro with Complete New HP Engine and High Tech Suspension, probably Dropped. It is a Cool Looking Car though, and a 2dr Post. The only thing for certain is: It Will Be A Money Pit !

Good deal at $2500 but I’d probably go there with 2k and then rat rod it.
 
I love it. Touch up the primer spots and you are done. I had a 61 Seneca for about ten years. I still have an nos fuel gauge for it.

I really like it and if you can get the deal you want, id say go for it. If the rust is minimal and no under body rust then great. If you can do the body work, all the better. It could be a fun car to cruise in and go to local shows. I always wanted a car like that.
 
They really dropped the ball on the Forward Look era sedan roofs, it's like they weren't even trying. At the same time, the hardtop rooflines were a work of art and ahead of their time. Even a 4 door hardtop looks better than a 2 door sedan.
Having said that, if you can live with the clunky roofline, it'd be a cool car to own. The dash is one of the coolest of the era with a futuristic steering wheel and a speedometer that glows with daylight.

cheaper is always better. I say go for it. Clean it up, make it safe to drive, and have fun with it. Do the body as $ allows. You won't pull into cruise night and see another one.
 
Buy it. Dont destroy it by Rat Rodding it. Those Late Chrysler Fin-Cars are finally starting to get the love they deserve. Just my opinion
 
My forward look car......purchased in 1988 for $550 with complete restoration needed. A family of racoons were included in the trunk at no extra cost.

Id be dangerous with money. Id buy that car, do the body, have it painted, get the chrome and trim redone.
Mechanical restoration. Interior. Just the whole car done as a nice driver.
The beauty of the car is what it is and represents. Slant 6 or V8, 4 door or 2. Its a piece of rolling Americana history.
I hope somebody latches on to it and does it right.
 
That is alot of body panel work. I'm personally not the best sheet medal guy. But if you, or someone close is good? With a period correct 383? Might just be a satisfying endeavor.

Another of the Mopar designs I really like. The rear most potion of the fin, where the chome sits with a reflector, I think it was an option but a an additional tail light assembly was availble on the hardtops.

"Coldwar Motors" in Canada is grafting a 60' Fury onto a 60' Dodge sedan (rotten floors). It's quite a lengthy project and is far from done but the man is doing it right. Over a dozen long videos on the build if interested check them on the right.

 
As posted, yeah, you won't see another one at any 10 shows you go to! I have a '63 Fury and pretty often it's the only one at a show. The early Mopars are a bigger challeng-er (ok pun intended) to finds parts for; but for mine more repro parts are available today than when I bought it 25 years ago. No idea on a '60 Dodge; those guys having 'em will have to tell ya what's to be had. Hard to tell from photo; but if this is an always AZ car seems like a tad more rusting at bottom than I'd expect? That era was notorious (from what I had read) on frame rusting, so a hard look at the underside would be a good idea before you plunk down da cash. Check the T-bar supports, suspension connections, floor boards, trunk floor, etc. Aside, looks like the body work could be handled by someone who knows how to cut and patch. That body style was neat.
