Okay as you can see, we have an edelbrock intake and new edelbrock carb on a 74 charger with a 318. The car was frankensteined when we got it. We are trying to get the carb and kickdown hooked up. I know (think) we’ll need the 1418 lever kit for one. The ugly *ss green thing was already there but we don’t think it’s gonna work with a 4 bbl or the intake. What else do we need? I’ve searched every website and am only confusing myself now. Yes, I have worn out the search button for the topics on here. So many pictures on here are 99% of what should be needed. I do know I don’t want any lokar stuff for the time being. Yes, I know some would say buy it and be done with it. Can’t do that right now. My cfo is already a lil peeved with the parts we didn‘t expect we would have to change out. What do I need as far as brackets and such? The picture of that good looking MoFo is what we think we need, just don’t exactly know what some parts are called. Or can we use what’s there and start bending sh*t. As usual I’m out in the gulf when something like this comes up. The last pic is of a spectre setup. Anybody use this? Names of parts would be helpful, part numbers and I’ll try to convince my wife to wash your car every week for a month. And of course, any help would be much appreciated.

There really isn't an easy way around this that I know of. You need to buy parts or make them so that you get the correct throttle and kick-down action. #1418 is a good start. From there I usually use the stock bracket and parts, cut it apart and lengthen it so it will fit the aftermarket manifold. That requires a welder of course.

I would recommend going with the Lokar kit for both the throttle and kick down.

This is not a answer-all thread but you may be able to get some info or part numbers to help you. https://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/threads/2-barrel-to-4-barrel-conversion.338417/#post-1971105243

I just went through this on my 74 318.
No one makes a replacement part to convert
The kickdown on a 4 bbl install.
I had to fab a new set up from original and
donor pieces.

I think we will probably go that route. We have the materiel laying around and welder.

Naw, like I said in the post my CFO ain't going for it.

Like 41 said if I want it I'll have to make it. Your set up uses some parts that we found in the trunk. Yours looks just like it belongs there. Our car will just be a "fun" driver while we do something with the 440 in the camper we just bought for $150 and three cases of beer. Now that I think of it, there just might be something on the camper we can use.

The 4 bbl made a big difference in performance.
The kickdown linkage just kept the trans working
Like it should
