What holds the throttle cable into the firewall or the throlttle pedal assembly. I have the stock throttle pedal assembly and it was bolted to the fireal when I picked up this basket case.
But, I feel like I am missing something. The throttle cable is just loose in the throttle pedal assembly and nothing seals the firewall hole up to prevent fumes from coming in. I have the bracket on the engine on the other end, but what am I missing at the firewall?
Thanks

GKENT, What holds the cable into the pedal assembly? My cable freely moves through the pedal bracket and the hole in the firewall. Ther emust be a rubber grommet or seal or something that blocks the hole in the firewall to keep fumes out and hold the cable in place. Is there a c clip that holds the cable in the pedal assembly? thanks again for the response.

It has a rubber washer to seal it and an E clip to secure it in the bracket. The bracket bolts to the firewall with 2 bolts on top and 2 studs and nuts below, both from engine side. It is sealed with a white foam gasket.

Other than that I'm not sure! Lol

DadsBee, thanks for sharing your before and after picture of the throttle pedal assembly, looks like mine. Except for the rubber seal around the gas cable. Do you have a closer picture or a stand alone picture of the grommet or bushing or what ever it is? Mine had nothing on it when I got the car, except for the loose cable.

Best I've got. Zoom in on it and you'll see it's just a rubber plug.

Maybe someone else will grab you a close up shot... I'm off to bed and camp bright and early.
