I have a couple questions,
1- How do you replace the clock adjustment knob, I have a nice tach but the clocks knob is missing I have a nice knob but don't know how to put it in..

2- I remember years ago seeing a quartz kit but now can't seem to find them for sale anywhere, do they exist or did I dream that?

3- does anyone have any experience with the OER report units? Any good, do they work well, look and fit correct?

thanks

The knob has a special tube 'nut' with a slot at one end for a small flat bladed screwdriver. The nut is placed inside the knob then hold the knob as the nut is turned.

Quartz upgrades are best handled by a specialist, as the hands and mechanism need to be precisely aligned in the clock mechanism. I had mine done about 15 years ago, and still works to this day....unlike the factory clock which probably stopped working before the first owner signed the papers.

I know nothing about OER units.

RR, you have to work for IS, lol... 60% of your posts are "instrument specialties" plugs :) I know a guy that works there, he lives about 15 minutes from me right in Mass, nice guy, I bought some parts off of him, maybe I will give him a call...

I bought one of the aftermarket Tic-Toc-Tac because my original did not work with my CD ignition (and the clock was not working.)
The new unit functions better than the factory unit (tack responds quicker, and the clock keeps time pretty well.)
When mounted and looking at the dash, it looks original other than the quarts clock movement.
Now for the part that may be an issue, the unit is all plastic, so the back side behind the dash is white plastic, so if your car is going to be judged for originality, you would want to have your original unit rebuilt.
I was not concerned about originality, and I sold my decent looking original (that needed a rebuild) which pretty much covered the cost of the new aftermarket unit.

Did you buy year one or the OER I think they are different..

I just bought one of the charger specialties repops since i am running msd, hopefully I am happy with it, I will sell the oe one I have and hopefully cover the cost of the one I just bought.

I am sick of spending money on this dash, wiring harnesses $500, restored black bezels $650, restored lower trim set $350, restored ash tray $90, restored reverse light $75, repopped Wood grain kit from PG $720, repopped tach, decal kit $35, dash pad $250, defroster vents $50, Paint, bulbs, hardware, and bumpers $100...
I owned a complete dash and spent almost $3K, lol.. Granted I am selling the stuff I am not using and did recoupe a good amount, but still, a lot of money...

It isn't really that tough to install the electronic conversion circuit board. Very careful soldering skills (only four wires need to be soldered) are all that's necessary.
I picked up my Tach from another member on here after he bought an OER for his 1970 GTX. Very happy with the results as the part was in excellent condition.

It was not from Year one. I think I got it from one of the other Mopar specific parts places. It may be an OER? I don't recall the manufacturer, it was a few years ago when I bought it.
FWIW, I got $300 for my original on E-Bay.
