Time For A Plan B For My Brake Lines

My saga of replacing the brake lines on my 74 Roadrunner is aging me quickly. :) I got the driver front line replaced, but the replacement for the front passenger line looks to be FUBAR. The replacement line looks nothing like the original, and there's no way I'm going to be able to get it in there short of pulling the engine and trans again and that's not gonna happen.

So... it looks like I'm going to be buying some new brake line, bender tool, and flaring tool, and fabricating a new line for the passenger side and the rear brakes. Is the stock line 3/8"?
 
On my 69 the lines are much, much smaller.... think you made a typo 3/16"?

Making your own lines is a breeze, just be prepared to put the double flare crimping tool in a vise to get a good enough bite on the line. Tools aren't what they used to be.
 
Did you get the correct line? Where are the issues? I made the mistake of trying to install the passenger line, after having the 6.4 and all the wiring/plumbing/column.. into the `cuda. We fished it thru from the passenger side, and I had to bend the driver's side out carefully to fit thru the opening in the inner fender well. Once everything was snapped into the cowl clips[another patience test]...I re-bent the line back into it's normal location, and snapped it onto the cowl clip under the column. Believe me....there was less room than with a factory engine in there. Stock diameter brake lines are 3/16". The fittings are generally 7/16 into the block, and 3/8 at the ends to the wheels. 2-people is ideal.

I'm thinking one of the lines, the one that goes from the passenger side caliper, is not the right one. The stock one comes out from the caliper, goes back along the inner fender, then up and towards the center of the car, but the replacement one was all sorts of bends in it.

Since I don't have to worry about being "stock" I'm just going to make a new line and route it on the firewall above the engine. Makes life easier. :)
 
Damm it, I hate it when that happens!
 
I know doing brake lines aren't fun and can be frustrating at times. I picked this up and made doing the job some what easier. done two street cars and two track cars. when I made a mistake and I made a few this helped.

I feel your pain. I'm fortunate that the engine is out of my car still. I have pretty much the same problems
 
There's muti different lines that fit on these cars I think 2 or 3 one gos over frame one gos under the other shoots back then comes back forward double check post a picture up of what you have I might be able to id your setup I found this out the hard way once it drove me insane

Where did you get your lines from?

My new pass side line had an extra bend right in the middle so it would fit in the box.

Once I figured that out and how to undo it correctly, it was much closer to what came off, but still had a few areas that weren't perfect.

Even still, it was ultimately workable and despite the contortion of getting it under the inner fender but over the K frame where there is that almost square bend to the caliper hose mount...it was MUCH easier than bending and flaring all that by hand.
 
I think I might try Plan C, which will be take the lines and see if I can straighten/bend them to re-route them the way I want. I don't need it to be stock, I just need it to work.
