We need to start a little thread on home remedies for car stuff. I will start. Got yellowed hazy headlights? Don't spend a bunch of money on headlights restored products just buy an eight dollar can of Mother's mag and aluminium polish and put it on a rag and rub it in to your headlights then wipe off..... Won't make just like new but it sure does wonders!!!! If you have a buffer you can put the Mother's on and hit it with a buffer, then they are like new.....who's next.

If you want to paint brake rotor center hubs and edges, rather than tape up everything,
  1. coat the rotor pad surface with vaseline,
  2. use crupmpled up news paper in the center or both sides to keep paint off race bearings
  3. When done, paint the rotors with brake paint rated for high temperatures.
  4. When paint is dry, use clean towel wipe off painted vaseline
  5. Spray brake cleaner on clean towel to get remainder off being careful not to get it on the paint,
  6. you should be good to go!

Here are my rotors with hubs and sides painted silver, this will help keep them looking nice and not all rusty over time.

Just heard about a different method. Use regular white toothpaste (not the kind with gel) and a toothbrush. brush the TP on and scrub the headlights for a few minutes or until you see a change in the headlights and wipe clean with a dry towel. I have not tried this yet, but i just replaced the HL's on my wife's intrepid and i may try this on the old ones just to see if it works.

Yes, this does work. Works even better if you wet sand the headlights with fine grit sandpaper first.
I used just toothepaste to clean up my instrument panel lens, radio lens, and tail light lenses too. Worked great.

Todays tip... If it's nice out, take your car for a ride!!!:headbang:

use a battery bristle brush( that thing that cleans the battery terminals and the ends...got a cap on it so ya dont poke yourself...and ya spin around on the battery terminals)..to clean out corroded light sockets. .the male part fits right in there and does a nice job! i had alot of practice using this on the Javvy .:headbang:

wanna keep ur push rods aligned while putting rocker shaft assembly on? use the dip stick to hold it all in a row as u draw down on the hold down bolts! works for me!

One of the problems I have out here in the sticks is the hardness of my well water. If it dries on the glass it leaves a nasty haze of mineral water spots that's not easily removed. The best thing I have found is Mother's Chrome Polish to remove the crud and make the glass nice and clear. It has an added bonus of acting kind of like RainX for keeping the windshield clear if I get caught in the rain. Anything else you guys use?

And fights Plaque and Gingivitis as well....

Needed to replace torque shaft splash shield inside left front fender on the 69 Road RunnerSAM_1951.jpg and found that an International front wheel mud flap is exact same material.Part #1675780C1
