Is it ok to use tire shine on brand new slicks? got to thinking it may soften the side walls. Heading out tomorrow. & wanted it to look nice.
I've never heard of such a thing.
Tire shine deteriorates tires after a while. I've never seen anyone put it on slicks. The side walls are soft enough. They dont need any help. And if it gets on the traction surface it defeats the purpose entirely.
Come on Hemi Reb. You're smarter than this. I don't want it to soften the side wall hence why I asked the question if it was ok to use it. And it dries pretty quickly. And I don't have crew members standing on both sides of the car spraying it on the bottom of the slick while I' m staging it. I use only because it makes the car look nice. That's all.

To answer the question, yes, it's fine. Use sparingly.
Don't get any in your steering wheel!
Wax the underside of your rear quarters too!
