Tire sizes for 69 charger 15”

Just questioning. Dorky? So it's about to get to as far as possible to the '0' on the scale of dorkiness you think? Wow. So, we have to pump up our 'wheel wells' look less dorky then. Interesting.
All you have to do is take a look around. What percentage of the muscle car world is still rolling around on stock 14” pizza cutters?

I’ve made my suggestion on tire sizes. Stated my opinion on the subject. Done talking about it with you, have a great day.

Ok. So you think it's all about The Herd then? Interesting.
It's not about the "herd" at all. It's about how I want my car to perform. (Good looks helps too!) Lots of other people feel the same way, that's all.
The more tire, and better tires you have , considering EVERYTHING a car does, is done through the tires, accelerate, steer, stop, if you have ANY designs on your car as a performance car, you sure don't want antique tiny twinky-dink 14" tires on it.
My car uses the tires in post #14, ...... and NEEDS them!

It depends. Case in point - I've posted this point/counterpoint before, my former factory bare bones 4 speed GTX, former street racer, I went with 15 inch wheels, 60 series radials, which I felt were consistent with the car's as built function. My factory A/C, power window upscale luxury GTX, I went with 14s, and red line bias ply tires. Cars had different personalities, I had different motivations. Mr. Hyde, the street brawler, on left. Dr. Jekyll, the gentleman's hot rod, on right.

Understood, and agreed. My A12 needs Goodyear G70x15 redlines, cause that's what was stock....., but they are a huge limit on performance compared to what is available for such a car.

i have hoosier 29 x 12.5 x 15 on the rear of my charger on factory 8" wide ramcharger wheels.
trying to decide on a wheel change to either torq thrust original style 5 spokes front and rear, or the halibrand style "big D" window slots for the rear and small[er] window slots for the front.:drinks:

That's the advantage of the open wheelwell of a gen 2 charger. I have those same ramcharger wheels for my car, there is no way I could get that much tire on them under my car. Biggest I can use is 255s.

Looking for advice on tire sizes for my wheels. They are 15x7 with 4” backspace on the front and 15x8.5 with 5” back space on the back. Any suggestions for tire sizes that would fit best with no rubbing on the wheel wells? These are on a 69 charger that I’m swapping out the original 14” steels

Not clear if you are simply looking for the biggest tire that will fit w/o rubbing or opinion on size. Either way, I think you got the answer to both. Opinions can vary greatly on the latter.

I am interested in your wheel/tire set up with the 14", mag wheels, I assume. I understand that you have had 14"? Which tires and sizes ?
Can you post some pictures with the 14" mag wheels on?

More so biggest that will fit without rubbing but i liked all the different thoughts that were listed. All very helpful.

The 14’s are stock. 215/75 in front and 235/70 in back. No mags, just OEM steels with Mopar hubcaps. I also plan to convert the front drums to disc once the snow flies this winter so wanted a little bigger wheel to accommodate the discs/calipers.

These fit, it handles better, and I more traction.

Nice!
Do you have done any modification to the chassis to fit those wheels? Mini tubs?

Yeah pizza's... I guess the shape looks familiar to you :)? Evolution of man has become more about stuff we want but not need. Smart guy's who run any corporation. They know exactly how to unleash our animal instincts. Only God knows what happened to our minds. And of course the social alchemist himself, Edward Bernays with his nephew Siegmund Freud. Wow, they got mankind by their balls. Litterally. They invented our freedom and democracy only 100 years ago. Wow how fat did we become. Progress, they tell our children. And they love it indeed. What a human disgrace, but we don't even bother. Why should we? Cheers!

Men and tires... can someone explain what happened with men's mind? Is it the muscular alter ego... or just the creation of an imaginary conditioned idealized self or a kind of mass psychoses or mass formation? Or do the 'musle men' share a 'big tire size'-gene for maximum wheel well fulfilment'? It boggles my mind. Or is it the advertising brain wash of companies who sell rims and tires by touching a Sigmund Freud nerve? Can a man even stand the emotional and mental challenge to leave it as it was designed back in the days. How long can a man stand for 'standard' before he breaks for... more fulfilment of.... his wheel well? Does he think it will attrack more women or is it the higher ranking on the scale of monkey power? Is it the oposite of the 'big tit' attracks more men feature? Can anyone tell me the difference in the feeling before and after? Is it the implanted feature of us 'buying hapiness machines'? Does anyone know of any research on this?

Traction, it’s ludicrous that any big block musclecar rolled off the assembly line with puny little 14” tires. Drag racers in the musclecar era put bigger, wider tires on the rear to get a larger contact patch, which carried over to the street crowd. You have to hook up to go fast…

275/60R15 on 15x8 wheels seem to be the default choice for rear tires on a B-Body. For front tires I would suggest 225/70R15 or 235/70R15 on standard offset wheels to fill out the wheel wells without interference issues.

your car looks awesome! Love the stuffed in tire look.

I tried the rears off my 71 on the front of my 69but the offset had me rubbing a bit.
