thats my question to you racers.
in your fuel cell do you use foam or no foam.
I have a 8 gallon jaz cell and just decided to take it out since its over 12 years old and its getting brittle.
I was going to replace it but I think it might have been restricting my fuel pump flow.
Any non foam users out there?

If you think the foam is brittle replace it, I've seen A guy with an old fuel cell ruin his day racing, he couldn't get one pass, that foam once it starts to fall apart it disintegrates pretty quick and clogs everything..............
As far as the foam restricting your flow, I have a fuel pressure gauge mounted on the cowl, a quick look at the top of the track will tell you if your restricted.......

I still have foam in mine, about 10 years old still soft. Another local guy has a camaro and the foam in his cell is 25yrs old or so and no problems. He, as do I know, soak the foam in WD40 at the end of the year and a time or two in winter. No problems.
I figured it cant be bad for the fuel system as the pro stockers hose down there carbs all the time.

Dad just replaced his this winter. It was 8-10 years old, wasn't coming apart but thought might as well do it before it becomes an issue.
I can't see how it's restricting your fuel flow; the fuel draws from the sump. You have way more fuel pump than you need anyhow. Not saying that’s bad. But if you think about it back in the day the S/S cars were running in the high to mid 10's with 5/16 line and a stock mechanical fuel pump.
Now were running in the 9's with number 8,10 or 12 line and 250-400gph electrical pumps.

I run no foam in mine.I keep it vented to the outside incase it does spill out. That and I keep it full as much as possible.

from the looks of your fuel cell you could use a new one. the top of it looks like it's dropping down.

Salvage your fittings and fill cap and fab up a new aluminum tank! I ran (still plan on using it again) a 10" diameter cylindrical 7 gallon tank with no foam...

The foam helps with keep fuel from sloshing around & anti bubbling for the fuel... I have always used foam in my cells, I did have an altered that had a Moon aluminum tank, with no foam changed it to a small foam filled upright plastic cell, I had issues with the fuel bubbling from the return line pressures...

i like my clear cell. it is sunken in a little but not bad.im still on the fence with no foam since i have a fuel pump return and a regulator return all going back into the cell.
i hope it wont get too aerated before a run.

I like the clear cells you can see fuel levels at a glance but they are the most prone to oxidation also, maybe you can pull the old foam out & replace it with new cell foam...

i had to put new foam in. with a regulator return system and a fuel pump return back into the cell all at the same time. it looked like a tsunami in the cell while the pump was running..

Sounds like the proper thing to do to me.. Happy Moparing, go get those Brand X cars at the track...
