Torsion Bar Condition ??

I picked up a set of Torsion bars for a 68 Coronet, they have a slight but obvious bow in them, is this normal from use or should I be looking for a set that is perfectly straight ? I am not sure I have noticed this before , when looking at torsion bars.

should be pretty dam strait.if you can see a bow they may still work but you would prob have one hell of a time installing them.

Torsion bars should be straight as an arrow. I have never heard/seen of torsion bars having a bow in them.

Then yall aint seen many torsion bars. Sorry, but if you've never seen any used torsion bars that are not straight, you aint seen a lot. They all get a bow to them after they've been used and then unloaded and removed. Once reinstalled, they'll be fine. Rule of thumb with torsion bars. If they aint broken, they're good.

I didn't want to say anything for fear of looking stupid :black_eye: But when I removed mine from my coronet, they were bowed. I put them back in just like they came out. Was kinda nervous about my decision. Thanks Ron

One of mine was bowed, and had never (AFIK) been out of the car.

I replaced it with another used unit of same part #.

When I rebuilt the suspension on my GTX I noticed a very slight bow on the torsion bars. Put em back in and they are fine.
