If i took the inspection cover off the 727 is there any numbers on the bottom of the converter to tell me what size it is? I know it may need to be turned but is there any thats on it? Thanks.

If anyone knows, what size did they normally put in a SB 318 in a 73 Satellite? Speaking of the stall on them. It, at this point is a high geared differential.

Your 318 727 should have an 11 inch converter with wide ring gear. Stall speed stock will probably be between 1600-1800 "flash" stall, which is what the rpm will flash to when you floor the throttle, not power braking. There are dozens of stator and cover combinations that effect stall speed and it is pretty hard to tell exactly what you have without cutting the converter open.Did this car come stock with a 727? I would have figured that for a 904 combination.

No the car came or should have come with 904, someone put this in.. Thanks for the info, i wondered if they had a tag or small plate on the bottom telling what it is.. Its not a big deal right now but might want to change it later and being he put the 727 in it, thought maybe he put a different (outside of 727 T-C in) in it to..

If the car originally came with a 318 2bbl it would have had a 904. it should have come with a 10.75(11") converter stall speed would have been 2100-2300
hunting for a part number for you

Originally yes a 904, but its a 727 now.. Im not looking to buy one, at least right now.. Thanks though, i have the info i needed, I wondered if the other guy maybe changed it and if it had some info on the converter looking under the inspection cover maybe id know something about it.. Thanks you guys..

I might change it if i get the work done on the engine i have, i bought a spare (last summer) to put in it while the shop has the engine (down the line a little).. Im putting in some lower gears and until i find out exactly where i stand with the drive train, then ill figure out the best one to use if i should need a different one.. Thanks again..
