Hey guys, please take a look at the starting line area where I'm launching and tell me what you think. My 60 foot times were a little off last Saturday with my first time trying drag radials. But looking at this picture from the track photographer, I'm wondering if it had more to due with the starting line condition than the switch to drag radials. What do you guys think? Thanks.

Thanks, they are the newer version of the M/T Drag Radial in the 255/60-15 size.

:iamwithstupid:

I'm with loose marbles^^^^^^ :)

Track doesn't look swept or prepped very well.

That starting line looks like crap. It needs scraped badly. Most guys I race with wouldn't consider staging there car on the trash. Was this an organized race ? What track ?

In the track's defense, they did do some scraping of this lane later that day. Yes, it was an organized race at an NHRA-sanctioned track but it didn't count for points for anything, it was just for fun that day so maybe that explains the lack of prep. I don't want to shame the track because they are nice people there. Just wanted to get an opinion how much of my 60 foot problems were due to me and my car and how much were due to track prep.

It is frustrating because you spend money ($400 on new drag radials) making changes to your car and you want to see what effect they have. Also, the entry money ($40) and gas driving back and forth to the track. Maybe that's why I've only gone there twice this year.

BTW, the lane in the picture is the lane racers were calling "the good lane" that day. Maybe I should actually be happy I was able to get a 1.73 60 foot time that day.

What gear are you running with that tire, I'm close to getting new tires for mine and have been looking at those too. Thanks in advance for the info.

They are 255/60-15s, I think the diameter is about 27" and my gear is a 3.91.

I think I will also need a real drag shock for the rear to make them work. Right now I have Monroematics on the back.

Were there a lot of street cars running? I`ve noticed that street tires tend to tear up the track pretty good. I agree that should have been dealt with as its hard to get any consistency in those conditions.

Yeah, it was a day where they had a fair amount of street cars.

Ya the track looks bad. The "marbles" cause some spin & poor consistency.
FYI when I compared my BFG Drag Radials(325/55) with 10 X 28 Hoosiers, no difference. The car was running 7.50's @ 90 in the 1/8 mile at the time. Radials worked just fine.

I've been jumping between your posts, sorry. But try without the snubber. Again the track looks real BAD.
