The front cable is the shift cable. The rear cable is to actuate the parking pawl. Be sure to adjust everything correctly after hook up.
You also still need the rod from the carb to the bellcrank.

The cable going to the tailshaft is for park! The cable in the pic. is for a column shift. If you have the floor shifter you'll need the longer ones! Also there is a rod that runs from the carb.down to the bell carb.(passing gear). The original is a one piece rod with an adjustable slide at the carb.Hope this clears it up for you!

That helps a bunch. THANKS!!! The cables that I need are already on the car, floor shifter ect. The trans was from another car orig. hence the short cable. Where in the world can I source that linkage piece I need????

Kickdown Rod Linkage

You definitely need that kickdown rod linkage which increases the transmission throttle pressure for your passing gear. You should not drive the car too much w/o that or TF damage can occur. As mentioned earlier it attaches at the trasmission bell crank pivot and up to the carburator. A really good transmission guy could make one for you however, it's best to find one for that application. They can be touchy when not adjusted correctly. I would email Joe Suchy as he has lots of this hard to find early 60's parts. I don't have his phone# but here is his email address. [email protected]
