I need help!!! I am getting to final assmebly on the 68 Charger with a 440 and 727 professionally built by Keith Long at 727 Specialist. The first time I put the car in drive with the floor jack underneath the rear wheels seemed to lock up and then release a bit and kept doing that. When I put it into 1st gear it didn't seem to lock up. When I took the car on its maiden drive up and down the driveway a week or so ago and had it in (D)drive it did the same thing and caused the rear wheels to lock up. When I put it into 1st gear it will move fine but as soon as I shift to second it wants to lock up again. I spoke to Keith Long about it and he seems to think it may be something in the valve body and should really have nothing to do with the throttle and kickdown linkage not being dialed in yet. He is in Indiana and I am in Minneapolis so I am hoping someone may know of what might be causing this or seen this before. I can tell you this though. The SOB will light em up all the way up the driveway in first gear. Pretty fun for driving it for the first time in seven years, I just can't drive it in first gear forever.

well if its in the VB there is nothing you can do other than replacing the VB or tearing it apart and fixing it. I would be asking him what he plans on doing to fix it.

Agreed, seems like two elements are being applied at the same time

Does reverse work? Might be able to narrow it down if reverse does work...

Fixed itself?

Well you got me what the hell happened. I will tell you this is that Keith Long was absolutely a great guy to deal with and stepped right up with zero hesistation to fix whatever needed to be done. The only problem is that he is in Indiana and I in Minneapolis. He UPS overnight delivered another VB because that seemed to be the consensus from many. Something sticking or ??? The fluid was full and checked and rechecked. We adjusted the throttle and kickdown linkages just to see if it would do anything. It didn't. Reverse and first gear worked just fine. Last Tuesday I hauled the car to get the alignment and front end torqued and fine tuned. I told the guy of the problem and that he probably couldnt drive it. When I came back that afternoon to get the car he said to take it for a quick drive. When I reminded him of the problem he said "what problem?" He said it shifted just fine for him. All the guys in the shop came out and said to take it up the road but to let her rip if I did that. Now remember I have not driven this car in seven years other than up and down my driveway. I got in and mashed it to the floorboard and it went sideways and went right through the gears. I felt like the bad guy in the movie Bullit. So like I said, it fixed itself and if it aint broken I aint messing with it! I have had the chance to drive it all over the place today without incident. Most fun I have had with my clothes on. It sure as hell does not have modern day traction control and just wants to do burnouts. :headbang:

Weird, sounds like somthing was sticking and just happened to work itself free, to be safe i would change the fluid again. And just run it
