Transmission jack

I wouldn't know I'm to poor to have a lift firstly and a fancy tool to move a trans around

I will say though my buddy has that h.f. one in his shop it works! It's fairly old two and he uses it a lot!

Do not rule out craigslist I picked up a great OTC trans jack at a great price do not like those other jacks if you have something heavy they are a little unstable becomes a 2 man operation

I have a jack similar to the Strongway model. I works OK but, retracted it is too high for me to set a tranny on by myself. On the other hand I have made adapters for the jack for removing rear axles and 8 3/4" pigs.

How's about the "Olga" model?
Still imported tho

We just bought the 1500lb ebay model....havent used it yet but seems adequately built.

I've seen adapters for regular jacks that changes it into a transmission jack if you have a jack already.

I would think the OTC is built more for everyday use in a shop. You should be fine with either of the others mentioned. Neither would bother me at all.

Still the best trans jack ever used. 1 forklift, 1 55 gallon drum, 1 wood pallet and 2 50 ton overhead cranes.

50 ton? A little overkill!!

I have two I don't need...we may have to work something out! LOL

I have the Harbor freight model. I have had it for over 15 years maybe close to going on 20 years. It has helped with literally hundreds of transmissions & rear axle assemblies. it makes it a breeze to be a one man job if needed. All of my buddies are always coming over to borrow it also. I will say that this is about the only H.F. item I can say was worth the money.

This is my transmission jack. $40.00 well spent.

Snowmobiler's may recognize this.
It's a motor plate that came with a Gordy Lee Grass Drag Mod Chassis I bought off of a buddy of mine for $40.00.
I was getting ready to put the trans up in the car when I looked over at the motor plate that had been setting under my bench for almost 20 years and a light bulb went off in my head.

It fits the trans pan perfect. It also helps holding the headers when you trying to get the bolts started by your self LOL.

I have the H.F. model but its the roll around on the floor model. Its worked just fine the few times I've used it.

Are you using it in conjunction with a lift?

I'm a floor dweller and have this scissor model. I glued rubber to the plate and ditched the oversized strap. It fits perfect under a 727 pan and works with the rear chunk.

The problem with HF is the hydraulics. Its hit or miss as far as the jack. It could last awhile or not. I bought a engine hoist around ten years ago. It lifted my MGB motor no problem. Few years later when i took the 383 out it would constantly drift down and i barely got the engine out. I had to buy a new hydraulic jack. HF is junk plain and simple
