Looking for recommendations for a tranny shield for my TF727 in a 69 Super Bee. Prefer one that fits well and don't need to beat up the tranny tunnel.

TIA!

Mancini Racing sells a nice Carbon fiber one for either a 904 or 727 Torqueflite CSR Super shield $320 they aint cheap, TCI Aluminum flex-plate & trans shields $105 & $200 from Summit Racing & the JW performance Ultra-Bell, various pricing & styles...

Yes, I know where to find them; I'm more interested in the fitment of the shields and which ones fit better than others. If anybody has experience with the shields.

TCI fits well on mine. I did mod the right side slightly due to the fact the header almost touches the right trans pan rail. Blankets even easier but will hold fluid if you have leaks.

The carbon fiber CSI shield fits the best. HOWEVER... if you do not have an aluminum or billet steel high gear drum you will still have something to fear.
At Norwalk a racer scattered his 727 that had a stock drum and a CSI shield and pieces of transmission still ended up inside the car with him. I basically shattered the shield.
At the Curt George Race at Quaker City a guy blew his 727 with a blanket on it and again pieces of transmission ended up in the car, it blew though the stock floor of a 63 dodge.
IF you don't replace the stock powdered metal drum with a billet one you are taking a huge chance.

I went with the CSR on my '63.Tunnel needed some tweeking:icon_eek:

Well about the only saving grace is that the car isn't a true race car and will see minimal track duty. Its a 99% street car, but it does have some motor in it, along with a beefed up 727. Guys are telling me to put a shield on for safety sake. I was leary of the carbon fiber ones and blanket, and you just reiniforced my doubts.

I listed those 2, :iamwithstupid: because I have used both styles, of SFI Cert. Safety Transmission shields on 68-70 RR's, both fit well... I didn't like the Safety blankets, the trans usually got too hot when street driving or hot lapping....

Yea, I was kinda leaning towards the TCI or the Hughes shield.

:( there goes that option then.

TCI will NOT fit a stock floor/trans tunnel!

So in your use, did the TCI fit without issues?

i have a csi on my dart, it was pretty tight in that car. shouldn't be to bad in a B. you will have to cut all the lugs off for column shift and kick down.

If it's a 99% street car, I doubt your in need of a trans shield.....

Considering the new motor should be around 600hp, my drag racer friend who's doing the motor RECOMMENDS a shield for my legs/feet sake. Is there a chance I could grenade the tranny on the street, probably not, but might as well do it while the new trannys going in.

listen to ur friend cause he has ur safety in mind! i have the csr myself, not exactly bulletproof but it helps a lot, i also have billet drums,

I have an Ultrabell on another car. They are very nice!

The only strange part is cutting off the bell housing w/ a Sawzall but you get over it pretty quick.

That car with the TCI Safety Shield was basically a race car with license plates, it had a Capps Auto tubular K-member, front suspension & a custom trans cross-member, solid Moroso mounts on the engine, so the engine/trans were at slightly different positions, than what an all original factory set-up would be, but it cleared the tunnel with some minor hammer work in a couple of spots, {towards the rear of the shield/tunnel, if I remember correctly anyway} not sure how it would've fit, with all the stock mounts & K-member set-ups...
