I have a 1965 Belvedere with a 273V8 and 904 transmission. I had planned to swap in an early 70's 440 and 727 that I have. I want to keep the column shift. I was informed on this forum that I would have problems because the '65 uses cables that wouldn't work with the later 727. I found that Imperial Service had at one time made a conversion kit that uses early cables to adapt to '66 and later 727's. However, they are currently unavailable. I have a chance to buy a 727 from a '65 Imperial that used a column shift. Would this transmission work with the 440 and my column shift? Thanks

Maybe someone here will comment. I think you can swap to a '66 steering column and avoid needing a cable trans.
