Hey guys,

I tried putting the trunk lid on today, and am having some issues with the fit. I see how to adjust the alignment front to back but the lid isn't lining up flush with the body vertically.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Thanks!

loosen it, close it with a friend inside, hold it where you want, have him tighten from inside............

Yes this would be a good way to do it....
Also make sure your friend is not claustrophobic and don't forget to let him out.... (sorry had to)

Also, provide him with a screwdriver & flashlight, then show him how to unlock the trunk from the inside (slot in the back of the mechanism). This will put his mind at ease...knowing that he can get himself out if need be.

Fitting the trunk lid for a tight seal is very important. I had to adjust mine twice after putting the car back together, as I was getting exhaust fumes pulled in through the trunk lid seal.

So this is really the way to do this? I mean it makes sense, but it does feel like I'm being punk'd a bit.......

No you are not being punk'd!!

This is the easiest and fastest way to properly adjust it.
Otherwise you will have to keep opening and closing to make adjustments which could take hours. This way will take minutes.

Seriously, there is a slot in the back. With the trunk open, latch the latch. next stick the screwdriver in the slot in the back. Turn the screwdriver and watch it un-latch.
