My 67 from Hamtramck had a houndstooth pattern. It was an early Nov 66 build. Most repops for it are plaid. I could only find one vendor that had the hounds tooth.
Sorry guys for a late response, out of town on business. From my observations, certain trends can be identified, but like anything in the Mopar world, never say never. Certain year models tend to have more definite color patterns for the particular year model. These color patterns seem to also be found in the body platforms as well. For the 62 year model, it was a specific pattern which I do not have my notes with me. For the 63 to 65 B-Body platforms, the gray plaid was the most common. It seems that the houndstooth and the plaid material was found in the 66 to 68 production B-Bodies.. I have also seen the burtex material as well in the early 68 Plymouth B's as well. But nobody actually provides an accurate sample of this piece any longer. Most later 68 and 69 B-Bodies seem to be either tan or gray plaid. Starting in 1970 up through 71, it seems that the herringbone material seems to be most common. Anything newer than this is outside my knowledge area.
As for as vendors providing specific colors or material types, the manufacture is able to provide the different colors and patterns upon request. I deal with ACC and REM weekly and it is no big deal for them to make up the particular mats to our customer request. Most vendors just find it easier to offer one style to make inventory control easier. Some vendors like to only offer the vinyl mats as they are much easier to ship and store on the shelf. Just know that the factory mats were never of this material, they were all of the rubber material with the exception of the occasional Burtex material. Hopes that this might help you guys in the search for a good mat.
