Damn ouch is right, costly for sure, that was a Big Freaken' Kaboom, I didn't expect that big of a boom...

looks like its time to rethink the blowoff valve adjustment.glad that wasnt mine.

LMAO! You could hear it coming and see the smoke start before it goes.... be nice to know the full deal there.. at 14 seconds destruction is imminent..... Unless he backed off on the throttle thats when the rpms start to flutter and then it outright bogs before popping .... my wild guess at the events...OLOL

maybe hydro popped..LOL the boost and water in the cylinder ran out of room ?..LOL how that for new term...LOL

Head bolts dont fail, the block fails. Actually pulls the deck right off the block. That one looks like a Cummins 6B.

Tractor pullers don't need no stinking blow off valves!
Indy does a lot of heads for pullers. Talked to them at the Mopar Nationals in 2000. Said they have a hard time keeping decks on blocks and heads on valves. Super Stock diesel tractors with 4 turbos can run 200lbs of boost. That can put lots of stress on a stock block. ha ha ha

200 lbs of boost... MOTHER OF GOD !

I'm bettin there was an explosion in some guy's shorts in the dyno room a couple seconds later as his bowels loosened way up after seeing that...

I dunno, you saw how it was struggling for a little while there before it blew. It was almost like they tried to see what would happen. At the very least, they were WAY more wreckless than I would want MY engine builder to be.
