This will take a minute to explain. Bare with me.
I have a 68 coronet. 440 im restoring/ building. The fenders i'm using have holes on top for the corner lamps ( not the side markers ). I do not know if the car had them originally or not. But i want to use them. I am currently rebuilding the steering column. And considered replacing the turn signal switch & wiring. I noticed that parts catalogs list switches for , with or without corner lamps. I didnt realise there were 2 types ( actually 4 considering tilt or not ). I have only found 1 source for a corner lamp type switch. And it is more than twice the price $120 & $250. If originality isn't crucial, couldn't i split the wire to the bumper light and run it to the corner lamps ? Any thoughts on harness , switch , and altering would be helpful. Thanks .

I ran into the same thing and hit the parts book. Some of the C bodies came with lights next to the signal lights that were called "cornering lights". Apparently they lit up when you were turning to help you see curbs. They show a different part number for the switch. Cornering lights are different than fender indicators.

Oh, i did not realise that. But that makes sense. So the switch made for turn signals without cornering lights is what i need ? And it will work with fender indicators ?

That is my understanding. I am about to order a switch myself and if I am wrong I hope somebody corrects me beforehand. I have fender bullets also and they just wire in at the fenders. I decided that the "cornering lights" required more wires running from the signal switch. Let's both wait for a second opinion.

Thank you for your insight. I was way off. Classic has the best switch prices i've found, so far. Attached is a pic of 1 side of the light harness i have.

Aaron I saw the same thing browsing Classic & others. I firmly believe 'chtampa' is correct. Jeff

The fender mounted turn signals do not need a special switch. They are grounded to the fender and ran to the turn signal lamp harness via bullet connector. If your car came with them there should be a single connector off the harness on both sides.
