Members, I was talking to the tech dept at Mcleod racing about a 12 " B & B long pressure plate and possible a 500 series disc for my car and they suggested a RST twin disc setup good for 800 hp.

I do not have that kind of power but alot of torque 640 at 3500 rpm and 500 hp - its a 522 stroker.

They state its a good street clutch - I will not be doing any racing.

Any take on the RST twin disc from Mcleod

thanks Ralph

I cant speak of the brand, but I used to run a twin disk setup in the Late Model race car.
It was real grabby, and worked well for this application, but I dont know if I would have liked it on the street. It didn't have a lot of slip to it for taking off on pavement smoothly!
One nice thing, is that it was rebuildable with just a couple new plates and disks! I used a hydraulic throw out bearing that was adjustable with shims to get the correct length up to the release fingers on the pressure plate. You simply pulled the piston out and sliped on the needed shims to achieve this adjustment.

I have the 10.5 street twin from them and my car is a street car. clutch works great i like it alot. it is a little tricky at 1st but you get used to it. mine is not hydraulic but almost works as good as if it is. you wouldnt want to use it for raceing cause you want a lttle slip at launching rpm so you dont break stuff all the time.

Have a McLeod twin disc in my SRT-10 truck. I really like it but it eats stock Viper hydraulics.

Well I bought the twin disc and will install this winter and let you guys know what I think of it.
I am really just cruisin on the street with a classic too much torque and alot of HP
Thanks Ralph

I would think you have the right answer for your engine combo. I may have to go that route with my 472 HEMI build, but that's a ways off.

When I had my HEMI in my my 64 I used a centerforce and did not have any issues.
