What brand 7290 series u-joint do run? Grease or sealed no grease?
POPS

I always use Spicer 7290, no grease fitting.

Haven’t had to change for years but I always like to be able to lube moving parts; ‘old school’ that way. Just never trusted “no lube” myself.

Neapco Gold or Spicer
Pack with good grease before install
Precision has gone down hill
Neapco china ones are junk

Heavy duty u-joints don't have grease fittings. Drilling the cross weakens it. You decide, are you going to break it or wear it out? Lots of power, risk of break, no fitting. Average power, greasable is fine.

Genuine DANA SPICER The good TRW are long gone
Oil through the end of the cap works for me
Technical
junk u-joints are either flame hardened or electo- induction hardened real thin hardness needles brinell right through and your day is done
Good U joints are deep case hardened Tough on the surface still ductile throughtout
so FACTORY OR SPICER I've made may a call trying to get answers from u-joint vendors
then get to the "where is it made" question- There is AMERICAN JUNK...
