Undercoat/sound deadener....

Guys...the rear wheelwells, fender aprons and other spots on my 63 were/are coated in a really thick, textured undercoat of some kind.
Doesn't really look like the typical stuff you get in a spray can or for the undercoat gun.
Can it be bought somewhere?
I'm not so much stuck on having "factory exact"...its just that I can see that its really good at preventing rocks and stuff from ever getting to nick the underlying paint.
Its TOUGH as nails!

I'm familiar with all the usual stuff but I've yet to see anything that's a close match to the factory texture or thickness.
May have to just use whats available i guess.

Another member PMed me and suggested Spray in bed liner. That might actually work even better than the factory stuff...but might have that plastic look to it.
Maybe use bed liner and then topcoat with the asphalt stuff just for effect?
Wonder would it stay on or just peel off....
