unreal. our stuff is officially worth is weight in gold

Been going on since as long as I can remember... Yep it's just greedy people thinking some of this stuff is "ultra-rare"/"extremely valuable" & wanting stupid money for the normal type stuff, this kind of "ultra-stupidity" has plagued the Mopar Community for many many years now, it seems some people won't pay **** for other peoples "quality parts", but then they want a "small fortune" for theirs, go figure... The old "Dennis Bacca Syndrome", my parts are better than your parts...LOL...

On one hand you have to thank some of these guys who took an enormous amount of money to buy out dealerships back in the 80's and store the stuff to this day. Seems like their hunch was pretty darn good when you consider what these cars go for now. I remember checking the price of a 69 RR grille back in 81 or so and it was $150.00! To me that was insane, especially since I paid $450.00 for the whole car (minus the grille). Then on the other hand do I really want to pay crazy money for parts that I used to throw away back in the 80's? It's a hard pill to swallow, but if you are restoring the only 70 Coronet police two seat wagon with a HD six and three speed ever built...

I agree Meep, Honestly never thought of it this way until i seen your post.. I wish i would have been more aware of things we used to take for granted, not just some cars we may think we should have held on to but how many parts we used to discard, throw away.. Things as simple as a bumper jack, duel snorkel air cleaner and look what they want but yet more complex things, engines, trans all these things that how many years ago were everywhere.. the list could go on and on, and almost anything you can think of.

I'm getting a kick out of seeing the parts lists and Direct Connection catalogs I threw out by the dozens being worth $20-$40 these days!

$$$$ gas cap

Ya... how about $500 for a gas cap ??? I have seen it. WOW. I guess you can ask anything but it's all depends on who will pay your price. GOOD LUCK 383MV /FONT]

I have seen the $500.00 66 Bel II gas cap and was happy when I found a REALLY nice one for $150.00.

I have about $1000.00 in just my 4 spd console for my 69 RR. That includes finding the stuff and rechroming. They were $25.00 in 1982 and if they had a few cracks they were free.

We have a Mopar salvage around OKC called Shady nook. Better known as shady Crook.

The guy who works the counter almost lost his teeth when he smarted off to me on a small piece of trim for my coronet. Told it was a rare piece and wanted $100 for it.
Got it from a member here for $22 with shipping

Said if I could afford a SRT 10, then I should be able to pay $100 for it.
Only the unwary go there.

"Grade A", a$$es.

i respect the whole "its theirs and they can ask what they want. i realize that if someone is willing to pay for it , then no harm , no foul. what really bugs me is that people see this stuff, and suddenly they think their carter 67 BBD is a 400.00 dollar carb. all the parts i have been through, bought and sold, i never thought in a million years a set of NOS trim rings would be selling for 5500 bucks. thats just insane.

Yeah, but lets see if they sell for that price. That would be insane. Trying to sell parts for far more than what would seem reasonable is like hitting on a girl way out of your league. The worst she could do is ignore your advances, but at least you tried. The worst that can happen to this guy is nobody buys his parts. I hears a rumor of a nos hemi cuda power steering hose going for 10 grand. I guess if whoever bought it can justify paying that much, then i guess its worth it. Im not sure how it goes in the restoration world. Is their money to be made? Is their money involved in winning concourse car shows? People put large money in racecars and gets sponsors and endorsements and money for winning. I could understand paying far out prices if it is an investment that will pay off. 400,000 for a hemi cuda might be worth it.
