Does anyone make a replacement or replacement guts kit to update the standard clock on a '68 Coronet cluster?

Have you tried Classic Industries?

Jim,
I'm fairly certain that the clock mechanisms are the same for both clocks in fact that same mechanism
was used up into the 80s

I took a clock restoration class at Pima College extension. Basically if the pinions bearings, or the plate that holds the pinions are not egged out, the clock just needs a good cleaning and lube. I believe on auto clocks there is the type that winds the spring by solenoid, and the type that has an electric motor.
If the pinion's seat is egged out, you can drill the seat out and press in a bearing. I did this in class, but do not have the tools to do the job.
Our instructor used Mobil1 to lube and Murphy's oil soap to clean, but I have found that TriFlow works best and is much less messy.
The guy that runs the Average Guys Restoration Blog is a (former) certified watchmaker repair.
Of course, everyone just does a quartz conversion today...........

But where do I find one Basil!
I replaced the guts on my '66 with a quartz kit. You'll find that the big three used mostly clocks made by Borg, so the kits are somewhat universal - the instruction video that came with mine was for a Corvette. Anyway, it hasn't skipped a beat in 2 years & keeps near perfect time.

They make a tach to fit that space... way more useful.

My friend with a 59 El Camino did this kit and it turned out great. He had a slight issue with getting the time setting mechanism to work with the knob, and I don't remember the details, but it was a fairly easy conversion otherwise.

(We took the same clock restoration class and he could never get the original mechanism to keep time after his repairs)

I did mine back in the summer of 97 on my 66-300. I used Instrument Services 11765 Main St. Roscoe, Il. 61073 Ph. 800-558-2674
I forget how I found them, maybe thru Hemming's, I forget? Good Luck
