Hi I have a 66 Plymouth Satellite and Am looking to install a big block in it,
I have been looking on craigslist in my area for a 440 and I came across a
ad for a v-10 out of a dodge truck. Has anyone ever install a v-10 in a B-body? would anyone want to if they could? would it fit? If it did what transmission would you use?.........any one know anything about this kind of thing?????

V-10

I remember seeing in a Mopar magazine an article with a Charger (68-69) that had a V-10 installed with many other upgrades. I don't recall which magazine 2-3 years ago.
I think for the weight and rework involved, it would make sence to keep looking for a 440. Don't know what engine you have now but parts to go from small block to big block are more readyly available.:edgy:

Another thing to think about is that the truck V-10's are made of cast iron not alumnium like the Viper v-10's so you won't be saving anything as far as weight. Also the truck v-10's were built for torque not HP, this would allow you to pull a house with your Satellite but you will have to modify it heavily for high HP performance. I also think you would have to do some major mods to the engine bay and k-member to make it work.

The 440 is a drop in for your Satellite and it will be easier and cheaper to build and a standard 727 or A-833 4 spd will bolt right up to a 440.

I know this had been done several times, I would stick with a 440, it will be easier to put in with less modifications.

It's been done to a bunch of E bodies, and I don't recall their engine bays having to be modified

but I've slept AND changed my socks since reading the last article about one

V-10

The Viper version is available in the truck also.it would make a trick setup for sure, though not the cheapest,$10,000-15,000 for a used combo-engine and trans

Thanks for the Info..........I think I will stick to the 440 for my tire frying needs !!

Good idea.
More trouble than it's worth. I got a viper truck, and oil changes alone cost almost $100 (doing it yourself). changing the spark plug wires is a pain and an all day affair by itself.
The automatic and standard transmission will not interchange with the engines.

The regular cab viper truck came with only the 6 speed, if you want to change it over to an automatic, you have to get an engine, wiring harness, and computer from a quad cab viper truck.(which only came with automatic's) The block are different believe it or not.

unless you get a good deal on a totalled out Viper (truck or car) where you have all the pieces (engine, transmission, computer, wiring harness, radiatior...etc) , it not worth it.

Here is one GTX that will run with a V 10 Viper engine, I bought rearend driveshaft and 727 torqueflight from it, just missed the engine.
