Could we please make vacuum cleaners a bit more challenging and involved to replace the on/off switch:lol:

Years ago we bought a Samsung vacuum. Like it, but almost immediately the cord rewind mechanism quit working. Much like your project I started taking it apart. It became such a complex ordeal that at about the halfway point I bailed, put it all back together, and for the last probably fifteen years I just wrap the cord around the body of the vac.

How about making parts robust enough to live up to the challenges of every day life.

I am gutted that the rubber 'tires' on my "Nilfisk GM400" have aged badly after 22 years, and started crumbling off the wheels. Of course the parts are no longer available....giving the new ground clearance at around 1/4"
OK for wooden floors, but heavier terrain like shag carpet gets a bit tough going.

Nilfisk is suck a good solid brand, I am surprised they canned the parts for these. I guess built-in obsolescence is alive and well in Scandinavia.

Is that a Shark? Just went through the same deal on my wife's to replace the power cord. Ridiculous.
