So I need some B body opinion/help. This car is a 1966 Coronet 500 383 4 speed car. 65K survivor. One owner. Never wrecked, rust free Black with white bucket seat interior console #'s matching car. It does have dual quad intake with early AFB's and chrome air cleaners. It is a manual steering, manual disk brake car. 8 3/4" 3.23 Sure Grip but probably not original ratio. Vin decodes as W-Coronet P-Premium Price Class 23-2 DR HT G-383 2 BBL Carb 6-1966 5 LA,CA.

I havent got a good enough pic of fender tag to decode yet and the Coronet production #'s site says no 383 2 bbl in 66. Car is in nice shape, paint is great, runs great, front seats need covers as stitching is failing. Everything else is mint survivor except for ugly mags.

How rare is it? Whats it worth? I will try to post pics and fender tag.

Not a rare car as far as numbers. Rare in the fact a survivor. Original paint? At least 10 to 12 grand easily I would think.

Sounds like nice car, numbers matching or not. I'm wondering if a 4-speed would have been put behind a 2-bbl engine? This site lists only the G code engine

http://www.lhmopars.com/vin66-74.htm

but this one mentions the 383-4bbl as an option in 1966.

Closer inspection should tell you if it was converted to a 4-speed. Anyhow not really answering your question, but I know from experience it is hard to find a car like that, or put one together, for less than 15-20k, depending on a million things of course.

No 383-2 barrel B body cars in 66 all 4 barrel.

There's a typo in the 66 Plymouth FSM and a correction letter.

Not sure about the Dodge FSM.

What makes this car somewhat unique would be the 4 speed in a 500.

I also doubt manual disk is factory.

Tag and build sheet?

no 383 2bbl in 66...361.was F code....G code 383/4 and H for 426
In 67 no 361...G code 383/2...H code 383/4...J code for hemi

I have a 66 500 361 2bbl factory 4spd. It is one of 373 built! the 66 cars don't bring big bucks! The 67 R/Ts bring more, especially if it's a 4 spd. Even the Hemi cars don't bring much over $30,000 So what you real is a fair price for yours is what it's worth!

Its a G code but one of the sites said 66 G=383 2 BBL. Didnt make sense to me, guy bought it new then died and 45 year old son is selling.

DO NOT use the damn online VIN decoders. Every single one of them are filled with errors, and try to be everything to every car off the line from 1966 - 1980. The online decoders are junk!

Hell, there is one decoder out there that insists that a 440 was available in a 1966 Dart, which of course is complete and utter bullshit, since the 440 in 1966 was available ONLY in "C" bodies and the Imperial, which was a "D" body that year..

Let's see pics.

G code in 66 should be a 4bbl
