I have a manual valve body in my transmission. It will shift through the gears if I put it in drive though. Do I still need to hook up my linkage to the tranny for the kick down?

manual valve body ?

no the kick down is no longer used whenuseing a manual valve body and what ever you do dont just use drive gear you will just burn up the cluchs . if you do a short shift 1 2 shift is fine as not to chirp gears and shift to 3rd at about 1500 is fine. hope this helps you . henry b :icon_thumright:

If it's a fully manual valve body, then no. But if I read your post correctly and the trans will automatically upshift when in drive, then it's not a full manual valve body, and it would need the kickdown linkage hooked up; as this sets line pressure in the trans, preventing premature failure.

i agree.

I agree with Lew on this one and if you check out Turbo Actions website you will find that ANY transmission that is capable of shifiting "automatically" DOES REQUIRE the use of the kickdown linkage. Only the fully MANUAL valve bodies permit removal of the kickdown linkage.

Is there a way to tell if it's a full manual valve body? I bought a 727 a number of years ago and the seller said it was a reverse manual valve body, but I would like to check before I put it in a car.
