I'm in the middle of repainting/restoring my 69 RR valve covers and on the passenger side, there are clips welded to the cover that hold down the wires. I've noticed the original repaint, went right over the top of some black material on the ends of the tabs or clips

What is the best material to retain that factory look on the ends of the tabs?

Thanks in advance,

Tim

I know you can buy a liquefied rubber for dipping the handles of tools--I would think this would fit your need. Only a thought; good luck.

Called 'Plastic-Dip'. Any hardware store or Lowes, Home Depot, etc.

I did think of that and I didn't know how heat shrink would have compressed and wrapped on the U for one of the tabs. the old stuff was brittle but seemed to have a metal backing. I'll try the Plastic dip and maybe even post pics if I'm not too ashamed.
