I believe that 62-65 station wagon and van wheels accept the dog dish caps and are 6.5 wide? Anyone confirm that and if so does anyone have a set for sale? Need two for the rear, but would love all four. Thanks guys.

There's a couple ways you can go if you want to use the correct 9 3/4" large caps...

How much tire do you want to get on the rear?

early wheel

May I show you a line on what you would be after. 6.5's are not common and didnt come on the B wagons, stock. vans actually were 15x 5.5. C bodies could come with 6.5's. So you are left with choice of 6.0 or 5.5 over standard 5.0's. Pictured is a 14 x6.0 , of which should work as well as any 6.5
backspacing and wheelwell spacing being equal.

You can get 15X7's off of any 80's model new yorker or diplomat. A 235/60x15 fits perfect!

I don't believe there were any Mopar factory stock 6.5" wheels in the early 60s. I don't think that started until the very late 60s or early 70s.
In the Late 60s/early 70s the Imperials had a 7" wide wheel but the small hub caps won't fit them.

Believe it

I wish responders would think twice before jumping in with a fact statements without really knowing some facts. A simple look at a 65 parts book will in fact confirm the 14 x 6.5 pn is 2530156 for C body application. It wasnt a B body app in 65. You see my posted reply gave exact facts, but just enough to inform the first post looking for period correct wheels for his supposed 64 wagon. Every detail wasn't required here but I could have gone further. Further more I enclosed a photo to add certainty of the style of wheel he was after. I have 50 'early' wheels in my collection of stuff to pull any variation out and show. In fact the 6.5 wheel was used even in the late 50's on 300's. It also was option on the rear of the 63,64 max wedge cars. The more one reads factory literature, old magazine reviews, parts books you can learn all this stuff. People that only have an interest or own a specific year car tend to have tunnel vision on what was done in cars 5 years or 10 years older or newer. Things differ even between 2 years.

So this reply releases a pent up frustration of so called experts that preface a post with "I think" "I believe" really dont add to the discussion and help the first question. For my own case, I know next to nothing on 71 and up B bodies, I've never parted one out, never owned one. and I never post to a discussion because I add nothing.

This might be axactly what you are looking for, but unfortunately they are not for sale. I had no idea what they even were until a couple weeks ago. A previous owner put them on a 69 Super Bee we recently bought. The part number is 2883100.

Yep... a 10 hole 14 X 6.5 with or without a correct date code is worth its weight in gold to the right guy.

10 hole, 14 X 5 and the occasional 14 X 5.5 can usually be found pretty easily. In fact, I just threw a bunch away...

The 15 X 5 K and 15X 5.5 K wheels are little harder to come by, and are most often used as cores for widening as they accept the large dog dish caps without the rigging needed for the later wheels.

chig, I hope my post doesn't induce another rant...

Trying to keep up and got a little lost. haha My main goal is to run my larger dog dish caps on a wheel that will accept larger then a 205 tires. I had the four original steel wheels and dog dishes on my car for a while, but I hated the thin tires in the back. So all I am looking for is a part number of a wheel that accepts the larger dog dish cap and is wider then 5 inches.

14" or 15"?

post to 64 post

64 Post. You speak the truth on your last comment.
Dont throw away those 5.5's though.
Chilling with a Boodles Martini.

14 x 6 will accept a 215 -75 tire

Well, now that you got that off your chest, I was refering to 15" wheels which is the typical diameter people are looking for in terms of wider wheels. The original poster still hasn't answer the question of 14" or 15". It is getting to be next to impossible to find a wide 14" tire so I don't think my ASSUMTION is far out of line. I "believe" my post above is accurate for 15" wheels, as is your regarding a 14" wheel. The point being that you too made an ASSUMPTION that he was asking about a 14" wheel.

So, maybe you can step down off of that high horse you must be riding.:tongueflap::rolling:

15" would be great, but the whole idea of all of this is retaining my 10" caps

Finally! Someone that actually knows these wheels exist :)
I've also had some "experts" tell me that a 14 X 6.5 was not offered, yet they were on my 65 Newport wagon, A/C with trailer tow package. I've not seen a 65 parts book, but I have looked the wheels over & have not seen a part number anywhere on them? Later wheels have a stamped #, should these have a number on them?
