Video download? What am I doing wrong

I know that I have to download it to you tube but can't even get it on my computer. I have windows 8 and all of my SD downloads automatically go to my pics, I've went into "my computer" and picked the file and transferred it to video (Xbox video on windows 8) it then says improper format. This is a camera I'm using that records video onto an SD card. I am able to watch it on Quick time player. Do I just need to find something else to record with? I don't own a cell so that's out.

maybe I can help. First are you taking videos with your phone? Is it a smart phone? If so get a youtube app for it and when reviewing the vid you should be able to share it right to youtube, If you are taking the SD card out of your phone and transferring them to your pc then all you need to do is upload them to youtube from your pc. I'll know more after you respond.
